I'm bad at this

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

Must be nice to have a job that lets you get away with calling in at less than that. Would it be better for productivity if employers did? Absolutely, but try getting that through to a lot of employers.

my job is so short-staffed it's fucking hell when anyone calls in sick and i resent them if they're not violently ill. sorry. that just means i have to suffer all day in your place.

i'm sure i was a huge vector for colds when i worked retail, but calling out when i was germy but able to function probably wouldn't have been great for job security

my manager has literally told me, "you can't call in today". I'm a server, handling people's food. coughing and sneezing a lot? who cares? the only time I've been sent home is when I actually threw up.

though tbh if a server does call in at my job it can absolutely fuck everyone else over for the night. last night, for example, i was sick but went in anyway. i was miserable my whole shift, but had i called in, the dinner rush would have been a complete shit show rather than just stressful as hell.

that's so gross.

if i was a customer i would have complained to your manager quite honestly. i don't want to be served by sick people and you probably don't want to work sick. managers need to figure out howt o deal with that.

customers where i work have complained about sick employees on the job to the very same manager that required them to come in :( it didn't do any good unfortunately; they gave them lip service about how they'd be sending them home immediately but really they just had the server help with dishwashing until that table was gone

super gross

that's awful. (though I guess dishes is a little better than food if you guys have a dish washing machine)

i'd start a yelp crusade. i'm pretty oversensitive because i have someone who is immunocompromised in my house so I have to be really careful.

your yelp crusade would be way more likely to get the staff in question fired, js

that's how this works

That's unfortunate but people who need to be careful about their health should be informed of places that don't take care to prevent contamination.
