I'm bad at this

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

(potential contagion + how shitty do i feel) / (how much do i need the day's wages + how likely is it that a sick day will get me fired)

My current job involves working with babies so showing up seriously sick is more likely to get you in trouble than not, but my previous job erred on the side of wanting us to bring doctor's notes if we used a single sick day because people were using them to cover for interviews just that much.

it's absolute bullshit that work places ask for doctor's notes. We're adults, not fucking children.

No argument there. My boss at the time was unqualified for the position as well as insecure (nepotism, and I'm not just saying that because I'm admittedly a bitter ex-employee) so she used it as a power tactic to keep us in line.

and a lot of adults call out claiming they're sick when they feel like taking a day off.

yeah but the reality is most of the time you can be too sick to work without being gross but not actually sick enough to need a doctor. so basically its demanding people go pay some copay for the doctor to tell them "you have a bad cold". it's pretty dumb.

when i feel like shit the last thing i want to do is drive 20 minutes in to town and sit for hours in a fucking doctor's office just for a god damn note for work

that's assuming i can even get an appointment on that short of notice

Urgent care clinics are pretty awesome for that sort of thing when needed and are often open later and on weekends as well. I've used them a few times when work needed a note because very few doctors in my area are accepting new patients so I don't have an actual doctor to visit yet and the ones who are have massive waiting lists, so I've given up on the idea of seeing a doctor outside of being sick with something that won't go away on its own.

On my insurance going to urgent care is a $75 copay :/
