maybe she's a doctor or a psychologist and thus learns a lot about these things and found them interesting to try playing

maybe she has a disability herself and found playing out various other disabilities therapeutic

you say "dominated this person's life" but maybe it was just a hobby of hers

I guess maybe you had to be there. This was years ago on forum RP and if it was her hobby, it was a hobby she spent probably 50+ hours a week on. Plus I guess the skeevitude came more from how she talked oocly than about the play itself. IDK maybe I am judging too harshly and I def. didn't know much about her personal life or whatever. I just, looking back, kind of wonder what was going on there.

If not, then there were apparently just a lot of people hanging out in forum rp years ago who were obsessed with all of their OCs having disabilities.

Though there were actually two of them and I think they may have been friends irl. One was a guy and one was a girl, and they were in two of my forum games.

One of the games was Harry Potter based, and I remember having to question the girl's logic in making a pureblood character who apparently lost his arm in a woodcutting accident or something, since their obsession with disabilities extended beyond the logic of the character's universe.

The other was X-Men based, and I had to question the guy's logic when he wanted the game to make all of these ~special accommodations~ for the pair's collection of disabled characters. Like a special squad just for characters with physical disabilities (in other words, just their characters). Because clearly Xavier is all about segregating the kids in wheelchairs. Yep.
