My girlfriend suffers from extreme depression and anxiety, which are probably "symptoms" of PTSD or related to it somehow, that she gained from a long history of abuse.

We got her set up with a therapist. She meets with this therapist a few times, it goes well. That is, until she comes in, in one of her worst depressive moods as opposed to fairly calm, and expresses to the therapist that she feels like giving up on everything.

Her therapist says that if she feels like giving up, they may as well just terminate her case and stop therapy right then, instead of actually trying to help her deal with these feelings. The therapist proceeded to treat her like her feelings were nothing but unreasonable for the rest of the appointment, as opposed to unhealthy feelings with some reasonable and some unreasonable causes. My girlfriend had explained having these feelings to my therapist before, but the therapist had never seen it fully, and that was how she reacted.

Like, I get that mental health is complicated and mental illness is difficult to deal with. I also knew that bad therapists are out there. But we were just blown away.

Find her an EMDR certified therapist if you can. They specialize in trauma and tend to give a shit.
