rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

Re: INUGAMI
(Anonymous) 2015-05-15 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)Yeah, my shonen is probably going to spend a lot of time trying and failing to break windows and/or doors down for exploration purposes. Or break holes in walls with his bare hands.
This isn't gonna work as well as it usually does in his canon.
And PC-run tutoring might be a really interesting thing to start up! Especially if they get tests and homework to complete, not being able to understand the classes will be a Big Problem for him, because no way can he figure that stuff out on his own. And if we get a bunch of fantasy-world characters they'll probably need the help.
(If, of course, they care about failing. Drawing a bunch of negative attention from the mysterious staff could be enough to scare people into trying, I suppose...)
Re: INUGAMI
(Anonymous) 2015-05-15 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)Grades and assessments and so on really don't seem to be a thing, so I guess it's up to player discretion and PC motivation if we, I don't know, get a lot of people really fired up about education or just really bored... Depending on how horror events go combat training might end up taking priority and all that (I know this is touted as not a survival game but I'm assuming that just means they're provided for and not expected to live on scraps, not that they won't have to deal with fighting). Tech support might be the one really sure bet for tutoring.
(It sounds like the staff is pretty lukewarm about motivating people too, we'll just have to see what perks happen in the classes, they seem to be relevant to plot somehow.)
Re: INUGAMI
(Anonymous) 2015-05-15 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)(My would-be fashion designer is going to have MAJOR SUSPICIONS about the permanently-blooming cherry tree in the courtyard. That was the setting element that cinched the deal for me on bringing her in...)
If they go more Lovecraft it may be one of those "you can't fight the monsters because they are on a truly different level" kind of things -- the depowering/humanizing definitely makes me think that it may be more about staying out of any embodied baddies' way than fighting.
But the classroom perks could be very useful, depending on what they are! I'm wondering if that'll turn out to be involved with the power/item regains.
Re: INUGAMI
(Anonymous) 2015-05-15 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)(I have a feeling a lot of characters are going to be having fun with that cherry tree, negl. I'm just waiting for someone to try climbing it properly...)
I'm not as acquainted with Lovecraft as I should be (read: I've been too busy/lazy to read up on it), but if we're mixing in Japanese myths and looking at the fact that they can regain things I'm thinking monsters that overwhelm just by existing should be only part of the picture. Not that I'm looking for a 24/7 brawl or anything, but I'm hoping there will be action as well as suspense in store for us. :)
Classroom perks: It's possible! I'm leaning more towards them being connected to whatever changes happen in the setting (possibly foreshadowing? hmmmmm). Either way we'll probably be indebted to the students that actually bother to pay attention in class, oops.
