RP turn-ons

What do you guys look for in a game! Is there any specific genre, medium (i.e. journal vs comm vs having a communicator or not), or anything else you'd like to see? What kind of app systems do you prefer, while we're at it?

My biggest turn-on in a game is one where the majority of interaction is face-to-face, rather than over some kind of network or communicator.

I also love comm-based games, though that's not so much a turn-on as journal-based are a huge turn-off.

All this! Communicators really bug me, in particular.

yeah I don't mind having them and they're nice for sometimes, but when the whole main comm is basically people sitting around on their IC laptops or IC smartphones or whatever rather than getting out and doing things, it bugs me. Particularly because it's so OOC for the majority of characters -- certainly for most of mine.

yeah, a lot of characters are not computer addicted like most RPers are— if anything they're technologically unsavvy and won't really bother to learn, because they prefer to do things the old fashioned face-to-face way! Which isn't really that hard to do in most jamjars. I'm kind of tempted to make something like a 1930s small town set game where characters regularly meet up for Church every Sunday, whether or not they're religious, because that's how you get the town gossip. (This is actually something my Dad did when he was young in the 1950s, too, so it's not a stretch.) And don't forget town bulletin boards!

I... really like this idea and would def sign up to help out. The 1930s is my favorite decade. So much useless knowledge and trivia.

Seconding this idea! 1930s and 40s are what I specialize in at school, and I would love to help get a game like this off the ground!

Common areas to gather and bulletin boards should cover a lot of the gossip...! I like this idea, anon.

I don't know if this is something like what you're looking for, but I'm almost done with [community profile] castleinthemist and it's almost exclusively face-to-face interaction, so maybe give it a look?

What the other people said: I wanna app a character that basically has a strong anti-technology field that fucks up tech hard. It'd take some annoying handwave to make communicators usable for him.

Also, another character I don't want to play in a humans-only setting. Like, she has a crew of non-humans that are all wonderful, but if the setting doesn't allow aliens, I couldn't have any crew, basically. :(

I also hate room assignments. I want to be able to dominate a whole building and house a lot of panfandom characters there. We did that in an old game of mine-- a lot of different people trying to keep out corner of the game smooth, and it was a lot of fun.

What about a game that allows Aliens in human form, or is that a no-go?

Room assignments are definitely annoying, I prefer that there be sets of rooms up for grabs every app round! Maybe not even enough rooms for every character per app round, too.

I guess that's fine? IDK, would that discourage people? But that option is better than the alternate no-aliens option.

I definitely prefer community games these days. In general I like a plot that motivates characters and makes them feel a little unsettled, with some plot. I'm less fond of crack-y games.

My favorite games tend to be the ones with a more open world: if you want your character to fight monsters it's possible, if they're more the type to sit at home and bake that's also possible, there's enough room to diversify what's going on so it's not just GRIMDARK BATTLEFEST or warm and fuzzy crack funtimes.

I read that as 'warm and fuzzy cock funtimes'.

So, yeah.

I'd approve of this but I'd wonder why a cock was noticeably fuzzy.

That's why I was confused and needed a re-read.

Alternatively, hobbit cock?

Either that or a new brand of cutesy condom. "Fuzzed for her entertainment!"

Non-AU/non-Jamjar games. I don't want my character in the "oh no I'm stuck here I want to go home" loop, but I don't want to change integral details about their past, either.
