So What's Happening Anyway?

So far, I haven't seen much chat about long-term gameplay.

Some games do the same Events as a lot of others: you know, the age-up, the alignment shift, and so forth. Nothing we've chatted about would make that make sense here---there's no hints that this place is fake, outside the characters' memories.

Others have things happening in the location, and that would make more sense. Holidays typical to the region, maybe some quirky local things.

Do we want any particular longterm theme to be happening, outside the weirdness and the slice-of-life?

What happens to characters who get really comfortable with the lives they find themselves in? What about those who refuse to fit into the life?

Subtle creepy?

perhaps there's something that goes on at night? At first everyone would be too busy adjusting to their daily lives and the strangeness of the situation and all but once people start settling in enough to start paying attention maybe they notice that certain NPCs sneak off just as the street lamps come on. Or that certain stores don't ever seem to sell anything but they never go out of business. Or maybe sometimes NPCs disappear and everyone swears they don't know who the characters are asking about but it's obvious they do and perhaps even that that NPCs family is devastated and trying to fake it like the rest of the town. You could Stepford Wives things or just pull the TV series Invasion vibe. Something's.... off. And it's not just that the NPCs all swear the characters are one of them.

:(

I don't really want that kind of creepiness. Conspiracy theory, subtle-creepiness isn't what I was hoping for in this... It's been done a lot. Slice-of-life with introspection about their memories is something I haven't seen anywhere else.

+1

If I wanted that creeping sense of Things Aren't Right, I'd be in Mayfield right now. I want families squished together and domestic funtimes.
