rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. tbh, i'm expecting the latter. her being able to play in the game itself seems to be suffering and it would be hard to keep this game up with a two person mod team, let alone what looks to be a singular one. keeping it how it's going in terms of how she handles it style-wise is fine, imo, but i really wish there was a more stable and more involved mod team than just her. it feels like if anything happens to her, the game will die.

lets not forget our anon mod or mods. snow does do a shit ton, and i still agree with her burning out, but we don't know how they contribute.

actually has anyone asked who does what, exactly? ime mods usually outline who's responsible for what. it might be more involved than we realize.

i'm calling bullshit on anon mods. everything that gets done, outside of lists and apps, seems to be done by her. show me something that's game-mod related that's possibly done by someone else. there are other npc mods, finally, but even they seem sparse and there's still all the game things and pms and storyline things that seem to be done by snow and snow alone.

dani was our head mod/named mod, but i have no idea what she does, if anything at all. the other mods that were 'anon' seem to not even be around, if they were in the first place.

in the last calendar, when someone asked about the royal audience, they mentioned they fell behind in lots of stuff because there is only a mod taking care of it

Snow is one of the anon mods. Just she's so active in doing mod work and talking about it that everyone knows who she is. Tbh if it wasn't for her I doubt the game would still be running. Dani and Em envisioned it as a fantasy style sandbox game with optional plot involvement, not the intense war plot we have. Em stepped down ages ago and I doubt Dani would've stuck around if not for Snow driving things.

em stepped down as a mod way before she left the game, and i haven't seen dani do much of anything game related, including playing. snow is literally the only mod keeping the game going and i for one would be way more comfortable if she pulled on at least one other person to help her out. two would be perfect.

"Hello there! c: Happy to answer what I can! For total transparency, it's Snow writing this. In the interest of preserving the anonymity of others where they've indicated the desire to keep it, I'll only refer to myself and the head mod by name.

I've been a member of the ED team since it began, and have been doing the great majority of the game's heavy lifting since (roughly) last July/August. I write the game's NPCs, write and post the calendars, the flavour text, write other events as needed, assign boons, developed the quest/influence system and solely maintained them until recently, currently hand out quests, answer PMs, coordinate player information documents, do most of the announcements, and so forth. One other anon mod from the original crew assists with various sundry items, such as making announcements via plurk, AC, apps, writing some announcements on the ooc comms, boons and influence roster updates as needed, weighs in on game decisions and player concerns, has created some npcs, and primarily gives me a lot of valuable input, as I was relatively new to DWRP at ED's inception and am still quite naive to a lot of common practices, concerns, and other issues.

Help has been and is still being sought out for the main mod staff: four people, to date, have been approached, and all have politely declined.

There are a small handful of list mods who handle the game's lists and now the influence roster, and whom I also approach frequently for advice on various matters. There is also a fairly robust staff of application mods.

Dani, the game's head mod, contributes to the app staff, weighs in on interpersonal player issues, weighs in on major game decisions, and in general acts to me as an advisor and guide in the modding process."

so yeah, there it is. there's another anon mod that does shit.

as a former mod that was in a very similar situation, this is complete and utter bullshit for Snow to have to deal with. hold mod apps, guys, before Snow crashes and burns like I did.

she should at the very least have several helper mods with all that load wow

so dani does nothing too? seconding the above anon that this is bullshit. how come the fucking head mod can't answer pms and do calendars, why does that fall on snow

especially after what happened last night to all of the notifs in the mod's email account. technically that should be Dani's crisis to deal with, not Snow's. it sounds like she's pushing duties she should be handling onto her

Technically, not really, though. Like, I don't disagree that there could be more help, but it's been on the faq since forever that there are other head mods besides Dani. Snow is one of them and this other anon mod is another.

Again, not saying that there couldn't be more mods to help, maybe, but in this instance, if we're really going to be technical, it's not a passing of the buck. Snow has just as much authority to deal w/ it as Dani.

it's not about authority. it's about actually doing anything. so the other random anonymous mod maars everything and makes more work for snow when she's the only one doing anything anyway.

good job, mods. dani either needs to step down as the face of the mods or step up and do more work.

okay those are fair points, i apologize for misunderstanding you, but lets calm down a bit, maybe. anon mod had did something by accident and apologized, and actually appears to do shit for the game, besides.

jesus, this is why nobody wants to mod.

pointing out that someone sucks at their job isn't frothing at the mouth. i get why no one wants to mod, but the half the mods that are out there are shit. contradicting a point doesn't mean i need to 'calm down'.

getting really tired of that being tossed around everyone someone says something negative.

actually no, i redact that. not out of pettiness, i'm just standing by what i originally said: dani could help more. we agree on that, but that's not what i was arguing. we're talking technicalities (you brought up technically first), and i was talking authority.

is it fair for snow to have to deal with what happened? probably not. can she? yes, she's a head mod, it's not like she's a list mod with work that isn't her. should she? no, because she does plenty.

but whatever, i'm honestly just making a nitpick here.

would it be inappropriate to... idk, approach her and volunteer? i feel really bad that she TRIED to get help but no one was up for it. i understand it's a big responsibility and all but there's gotta be someone willing to share the load a bit.

I would apply if they opened mod apps tbh. they really need the help.

I've been in the game for months and I remember mod apps being open way back when and I don't think they actually closed them, but who knows if that's still something they're adhering to. I wouldn't expect it to be common knowledge at this point in the game, and a fresh notice would be best.

But you could drop a line and ask? The worst they could do is say no.

And before anyone gets salty about the possibility of them denying help they might need, modding isn't just capability it's also how you mesh with people, and how much you might trust them. It looks like Snow--maybe with input from other mods, who knows--reached out to others she thought were suitable.

the only mod apps open might have been for apps and list. they've never had mod apps open for game-modding.

So we're both right.
