Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

you can always ask. i don't really know why the mods who aren't in charge of the test drive but who are around don't pinch hit for the ones who apparently can't do it. that's the entire point of mod teams. it's okay to make the test drive less elaborate than usual just so people have a place to test the water.

i'd take the calendar being updating and faq questions being answered over the test drive, but you'd think the test drive might be simpler.

Don't bother asking. They'll say no. Last I heard it was because the TDMs sometimes have something to do with the event for the month so they don't want a player putting up something that is completely unrelated to what they have in the works.

The fact that TDMs are considered game canon means that unless something specific is set up ahead of time, player posted TDMs will probably never happen. That would be a fact of life in any game where they're considered canon.

tdm events don't HAVE to be canon for the characters as far as i've seen

and your point is...?

the mods like to tie them into things because people like to use them to establish cr so that they have something going in. as long as people want to do that, there will not be a player-posted tdm.

which is fine! as long as they're willing to actually put one up. it's like with the atp thing: it's fine to forbid your players to do a thing, so long as you actually intend to do the thing yourself. i have my doubts about whether or not they're going to actually handle atp this month despite saying it's now a mod-only thing, since the player who got warned for it threw it together the day of atp several hours beforehand as a last minute thing.

it's perfectly silly to disallow players to do things that the mods simply aren't doing.

That's what I don't get.

We have our fair share of whiners in the game but mostly theres just people willing to help out. The mods had no presence during February. In March they showed up with excuses or to make an ass out of themselves. The game hasn't been advertised in months except for that recent atp post and has gotten by due to word of mouth of their players.

Noone's joining this game because of the stellar mods or the plot that hasn't existed in half a year. The players breathed life into it so it makes little sense to turn down their efforts to help out.

Their good people. If they want to help out in simple ways why not let them?

they've messed up a lot, but i'm not sure i can blame them totally for not wanting to accept help from players who have been pretty openly demanding and rude to them. even in mod posts where they're trying to clear things up, they get that, and anons here are just plain vitriolic sometimes. it seems more like everyone cares about themselves and what can be done for them than the bigger picture in this game.

honestly, i'm surprised they haven't abandoned or closed the game because adding that on their obvious other failings probably doesn't make them want to mod or adds to the problems. they're doing a thankless job, because modding is always a thankless job, but it seems like people would rather rail on them than actually give them a chance to redeem themselves. the new helper mods haven't been there that long, so i don't expect them to be contributing to things the original mods said they'd still do, like the plot.

also, i don't think the game was ever actually heavily advertised. i only remember people plurking about it or replurking mod plurks when i first started seeing things for it a few months back. it always seemed like a word of mouth game, so that hasn't changed.

not in the game, but i've been following for months due to interest while i tried to figure out a character to bring, so this. after the timed plot incident, the players of this game have come off as really bloodthirsty when the mods are involved. some of the attitudes you see towards them in mod posts are really off putting.

are you serious right now?

it is the mod's job to do all these completely reasonable things that the player expects of them. it is not the player's job to offer help and update things, but the players still do, and they get denied for it.

????

yeah the players are such ungrateful fucks, ok.

holy fuck ungrateful players like you are why i don't mod games anymore

(Anonymous) 2015-04-12 05:02 pm (UTC)(link)
it's the player's job not to make life difficult for the mods because they're already doing the demanding and thankless job of running the game. the players here seem to have taken a long draught of crazy juice recently which is making the game seem hella unappealing.

and yes, they are ungrateful fucks. after all, you're here whining about how they're not catering to you. as the anons above me said, butthurt player detected. now back away from the entitlement and crazy juice so that the game can go back to being fun again.

what the fuck even?

my problem is why they're not allowing the players to cater for them. i don't understand what anyone is doing to make their lives difficult, if anything the playebase is frustrated that they can't do anything to make it easier on the mods. i don't know where you're getting the crazy juice and entitlement things from, but whatever. say my butt hurts if it helps you sleep at night.

nayrt, but do you seriously read your replies and not realize why it comes off as whining and butthurt?

honestly i don't think the mods are that bad but i do wish they would update the calendar or answer the faq questions. or let us do a test drive unrelated to the game if it's not going up.

i'm holding back my opinion on the being banned from any of us doing atp until i see if they're going to really do it themselves.

idk, i don't think these are unreasonable things to want? i'm grateful for the things they do, but that doesn't mean i don't want an actual calendar for this month given our ic/ooc dates are different and it's nice to have an idea of when things are happening and having faq questions is something everyone in every game wants, i had thought. like, are these really horrible things to expect from mods?

Especially on the unanswered questions and PMs. I understand that those things can get overlooked at times, especially when everybody is busy, but come on. Depending on it stuff like this CAN ruin people's game experiences. :(

(There's almost a page full of unanswered questions that hasn't been looked at for over two weeks by the time I'm typing this. Just a c&p'ed quick note that the mods have seen it/please hold the line- type of response would be awesome!)
