Considering apping into this game but I wanted a general overview of what its like in terms of pacing and generating CR.

pacing honestly varies. it's pretty slow right now, but that's the exception to prove the rule (and you know it'll pick up once ageplot starts). it generally goes from medium to fast, getting faster around mod events and swear-ins. still, most of the game is willing to backtag so it's okay if you're not able to check the comms every day.

as for generating cr, there's a lot of people who are willing to tag lcws and new characters. I won't lie, it's so much easier if you app into a cast, but that's kind of the norm for dwrp as a whole. it does seem that it's a bit easier for live-action to get cr than anime types, but on the other hand, most of our live-action only people are mad slow, so I'd actually recommend hitting up the anime/comic books types for cr (no, I don't know why this is the case either). some large casts are SUPER GREAT for getting new cr (the Jojos, the FMA cast and the Mass Effects come to mind) but with some large casts, it's just pulling teeth to get new cr with them (the Being Human cast, the Transformers, and like half of the Homestucks) just because they're MAD SLOW.

Thanks for getting back to me with all of this, I do appreciate it. Given me a better idea of what to expect. I'm all about crosscanon and cross medium CR, so I'm hoping that there isn't much of a medium divide.

I've noticed that there is an app cap and the reserves have gone beyond that amount. Would you recommend I reserve anyway?

reserving is actually required to put in an app now! the mods will open up apps to nonreserves after a few days if all the slots haven't filled up (it happened last app cycle), but personally i'd reserve anyway just to be safe.
