Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

It'd probably be too much work for the mods but I wish characters were scored without player input for this reason. Maybe a 'things to take into account for scoring' section that would work like it does now but without the player actually giving a number.

Reading over the apps I see some people being a little too humble when their character should score higher, and some people writing an entire essay cherry-picking for small canon examples that somehow prove they have incredible reflexes or something in order to inflate their score. I understand why the mods would usually go with what the players say (they can't be familiar with every canon) but god do some people rate their characters way too high.

I notice this especially happens a lot with people who play characters that are super strong in canon because of their powers. As in, "Character has never fought without their powers but they've done a lot of fighting so they're still a 10-12!"

I don't understand their scoring system (I mean if Jason Todd is a 12 mine would be about a 14) so I based mine on what the characters most similar to mine scored.

And you're right about the superpowered characters. In any setting where powers get nerfed to human levels, those types of characters should really be at a disadvantage while learning to cope with being powerless, but no one takes that into account.
