My problem with the whole 'Sebastian doesn't even like him' bit is that, when you get down to it, the guy does a stupid amount for Joseph.

Sorry but working partner or not, if I disliked someone I wouldn't go back into an area with a giant murderous creature to fetch their glasses. Its not as though Joseph is a particularly competent ally with them anyway.

it'd be idiotic to let help in a survival situation be hindered by lack of sight, so it doesn't make that much sense to conclude that seb wants to fuck joseph because he went back for his glasses

Because I personally took that original point to mean that Sebastian didn't like the guy as a person. Nothing to do with anything deeper than that. Hence why I think it wouldn't make sense for a guy that disliked someone to put his own life at risk for this other guy's glasses.

yeah, i agree. joseph aint even blind as a bat, those glasses are just for show, memento, and a need to feel 'nnnnnnormal'. sebastian begrudgingly went back in there for those reasons anyway.

most people seem to forget they're both married, had kids, and with a lot of resentment on sebastian's end over the whole being reported to internal affairs deal. do you not realize when joseph was having his moment with the pistol to his head, sebastian legit just tackles him to the ground and delivers a flat, 'what the fuck.' before dropping it. i figured it was less about a working partnership and more about having an extra gun against ruvik or whatever haunted his side. even before that joseph gets his ass nearly dragged to the guillotine after not listening to his supposed partner. so idk how most ppl pull anything remotely healthy from them.

Just saying pretty sure it's generally agreed upon that Joseph's marriage thing was moved entirely to Sebastian. Just due to the fact that he never once mentions his family nor does he show any hesitation at the idea of killing himself.

There's a couple of other things in that book that arent quite right and I believe it was done before the game was finalised.

what, like being descended from assassins spiel? lmfao, there's no such thing as generally agreed upon fanon or canon. people are gonna pull what they want from the artbook or supplementary material to make their lil bisexual headcanon work. but when you're turning into something spoopy and supernatural thanks to the big bad, wouldn't it be better to end things so your 'partner' or family doesn't have to deal with your barbwire bullshit?

besides, i think sebastian thinks of his wife as more of his partner than joseph.

And you seem really upset that a portion of the fans like the idea of the two male characters hooking up. Happens in every fandom these days. Move on.

but the rabid shipping of seb and joseph because they're hot dudes is kind of annoying when people try to push it as "hinted at in canon!" it's... not. you're reaching. i can tell you about sebastian and his trenchcoat and the fact that the dream world didn't let seb or joseph or juli or anyone else contribute to it but at the end of the day i'll get called a homophobe for daring to roll my eyes at people claiming the game has "representation."

did you even read the thread where this theory was brought up because it kind of went past "they're hot dudes" js

the anons in this thread are the ones pulling shit from the artbook. like are you completely confused and turned around or what? because the whole "joseph has a wife and kids" thing is NOT an in-game fact and is, indeed, only from the artbook.

okay so more on point with what we know in canon, and on the topic of that theory:

does juli not come in here, or what? seb literally says he didn't like ruvik "using her as bait" at one point. going by your logic he has secret desires for her too. (but it's more likely joseph is the one with secret desires, because seb mentions that he thinks joseph might have a crush on her in a journal entry.)

and on that note i'm not sure why you and everyone else is basing their theory so heavily on what ruvik said to seb in the elevator. ruvik also says something along the lines of "how will you live with yourself, knowing what i'll make you do?" like. what does that even mean. ruvik says a lot of stupid nonsensical shit to threaten and intimidate his victims so i'm not sure why that one-way convo is heralded as proof that sebastian is either bisexual or a closet homo and definitely has feelings for joseph.

why would juli come into play here, when sebastian flat-out said in canon that he doesn't like her? that trap wasn't for sebastian. it was for joseph. so any argument you want to make along the lines of "ruvik used juli as bait for a trap too" doesn't actually apply since, well, it wasn't for seb. and the second time you come across her wasn't actually a trap, it was just her being a dumbass and getting herself cornered. like not that i think seb would actually leave juli to die, because he's a legitimately good person and just wouldn't do that, but if the intention of the trap was to mindfuck someone, it sure as hell wasn't seb.

also lmao at you being so quick to just throw away ruvik's speech as being "nonsensical" or there just for lulz. i mean i'm not here to stan for this theory one way or the other but come the fuck on, man. "it's just nonsensical shit" is literally the laziest argument on the planet.

yes i did. it's just that. a theory. nothing in canon contributes to it being true, it's just a nice idea someone wrote to justify their shipping. which is fine, i don't care about that, but you need to realize that it's just fanon.

that's... kind of the point of surrealistic horror games, dude. everything in them is meant to be open for interpretation. there are still people in silent hill fandom arguing over whether or not pyramid head was raping mannequins or whether or not angela was sexually abused by her father.

i don't think the anon in that thread was trying to say that it's straight-up canon, because they said a few times that they're open to other interpretations. but i don't think their interpretation is any less valid than anyone else's, nor do i think anyone else's interpretation is somehow more valid, because that's not how this shit works. they gave enough in-game evidence to convince me that it wasn't a complete and total asspull just for shipping purposes, and they'd probably even have more if you asked, so that's fine imo.

you wanna talk about some asspull theories about the game, we can bring up the "juli is sebastian's daughter from the future" theories. in comparison, "sebastian is bisexual" is about 500x more likely imo. but that's the fun of the game and games like this. there's no set answer.

yeah not for nothing, but the game isn't really ambiguous about sebastian's feelings for people. he flat out says that he doesn't like or trust kidman, but he has nothing but glowing praise for joseph. and also thinks myra has a hot ass. i'm not sure where "he doesn't even like him" came from, other than anon being salty about shipping, which is ridiculous and please stop projecting.
