Aw yeaaaaahhhh. I missed the golden days of FM by only a slim margin (because I was short a strong MGS muse at the time despite a great love of the series. I PEAKED IN THE WINDOWS A LOT AND SIGHED A LOT at how much fun it looked and all the camaraderie).

I would love it if the DR was primarily MGS-centric, still containing that feeling of canon-specific camaraderie, but maybe like every Friday--or maybe less frequently one night a month--open the doors up to panfandom just to spice things up. I don't know if there'd be an easy way to moderate it since people backtag a lot and it wouldn't be fair to even try to put a damper on that. Maybe simply exclude new posts being made by non-MGS characters, or contain it to one log, or something like that?

What if we created a sort of a DR based on the premise of being sort of an endless VR and ran events with the premise the VR was 'glitching' or something as an excuse for shit like impossible space and whatever dumb shit we want to jam in there.

The biggest trouble with getting a DR off the ground isn't the opening or premise, or events though, but the keeping it used on an ongoing basis with enough flexibility and a simple enough setting for players 1. to be able to make shit up as they go along without doing much reading and 2. being able to make posts that are easy for others to have an excuse to run into each other.

Maybe start it off with a small space to make it easy for characters to run into each other that can be expanded as there's more people.

I'd recommend cutting the dumb bureaucratic parts of fission mailed's rules. fuck the procedures, just let people drop in and post.
