rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

(Anonymous) 2014-10-24 04:56 am (UTC)(link)i didn't like the books at all, but enjoyed the movies quite a bit. i feel they cleaned up the universe, and being divorced from katniss's POV makes it easier for all the other characters to be characters in their own right, rather than what katniss projects on them.
as an adaptation the movies give us a different take on the characters, one that i personally feel is a bit more interesting to play with, and i enjoy seeing movie versions for what they bring to the table

(Anonymous) 2014-10-24 05:40 pm (UTC)(link)i use both. there are some things the movie does better (like effie, and stuff going on around katniss she doesn't bother noticing in the books) and i usually like whatever they add, but knowing stuff from the books definitely helps fleshing the characters out and it's really easy to read just for the character you're interested in as long as it's not katniss. go to a site and ctrl+f their name through every chapter, read their bits, carry on. but if someone didn't want to do that i would happily play with them regardless.
