i want a game where players are pulled into some sort of racing circuit nexus, like Mario Kart or Take Off!

If it's more like the former, people have some sort of cars or karts they use to race based on their powers or pets or vehicles back home. If you played a pokemon character, for example, they may have a Charizard themed car with flame abilities to use in the race. Scooby Doo would have the Mystery Machine with maybe fake ghost abilities to confuse other racers. If your character didn't have something that could work, you could come up with something based on their personalities/world.

If it's more like the latter, people race dragons and monsters and pegasi, again based on canon but in the reverse. A pokemon trainer would be able to ride charizard, batman would have a giant bat monster. Players would have the option of playing both, or teaming up with another player (like with Hiccup and Toothless).

If you really wanted to, you could app in coaches or observers to fill out the stands.

There could be one race a week, with one lap per day for 5 laps in total. Maybe the other two days would be the racers' days off, for slice of life, training, or cr buidling.

Another idea could be that every race, each character gets a randomly chosen special item. Like mario kart, whoever did really well in the last race would have their item from a pool of basic items, and the people who need a leg up would have their item from the more special pool.

it's a cute idea and i really like the second option, but idk how you'd rp a race in a way that would be both fair and interesting to write out

for "fair" i think i'd look at other games that did competitions, like the Games. if items and stuff were included, i'd definitely try to use them to balance the odds and maybe for the ride-monsters/dragons/stuff you'd have certain "skill points" you could give your mounts eg "high speed, low manueverability", and really powerful mounts might be powered down and normal mounts powered up

i'm not sure about threading itself, though. it could make for some really interesting cr if you could be able to say "okay for this part of the race, these are the closest riders" or say, if the placement in each lap was decided you could say "okay on tuesday i have to be in third but on monday i'm in fifth. who am i passing? can i thread with you?"

if races themselves are a bit difficult to do every week, it might be easier to have one on the last week of every month, and then the rest of the month is training and mini-competitions, then people can say "my character is going to challenge some people to train with them, any takers?"

idk if that'd be interesting or not though :/
