I'm okay with most of that, except:

5) I'd be okay with having OU avatars remain avatars. That's part of the main concept of the universe, so it'd almost be weird to change it.

6) I don't like the idea of having more than one element per character (besides avatars), though. I think restricted powers would create more opportunities for CR as characters have to rely on one another for their different abilities.

ayrt, answering both above. this is great, thanks for replying!

1) thinking an au game wouldn't draw much attention, nobody in dw rp likes having to sacrifice their character's development or history, i had a chat to a couple of friends and the general consensus to throw out here was that people play their characters for the novelty of sticking them in odd situations. the 'OMG MY GOD WHAT IS THIS' posts are easy enough to ignore, there could even be a rule that every character gets shit explained to them when they arrive. i'm wondering where they could turn up too. au could still work, i'm not meeting very many enthused for re-writing stuff they already have readymade from other games so it's left me skeptical.

2) would the ou avatars have a specific role to play with the city officials/spirits/whatever-the-mods-use, do you think, or just come in as-is and wing it like everyone else?

3) re: bending, how about scrapping multiple bending abilities and having people level up after maybe 10/15 training logs? they could link them on a page for mod approval and be ticked off for say, learning how to lightningbend if they are a firebender.

fair enough on the au! i like them personally in an interesting enough setting (and i have atla aus ready to go haha), but i understand the lack of enthusiasm :c then maybe the next reason for having people come into the world would have to do with the spirit portals: fudge something to do with getting lost in spirit vines/wilderness or w/e and coming out on the other side in republic city near the bay? then that could handwave timeline stuff for atla canon characters too. just blame it on spirit portal shenanigans.

just keep the ou avatars coming in and winging it, too. obviously aang and korra would probably feel the need to be a bit more proactive with whatever was going on w the spirit world but they could be just as much in the dark as everyone else.

mod role: spirits, naturally, and set up a new "mod" character to kick raiko out of office (let's be real he's not doing much anyway) and take over republic city to make game events more manageable?

i like the level up system for bending in place of multiple elements!

it seems like au based games have a tendency of dying off a lot faster than when things are kept simple and ou, which is a shame but people will play when they want to play. personally, i wouldn't app to an au game because i really like the idea of my character fumbling through bending and making cr that way and then helping others later on. not in an obnoxious network way, in their logs and stuff.

we're agreed on everything, anon c: this is a great feeling.
