i'm unsure about what route i'll be taking her from (though i'm leaning toward UBW), so general advice would be great! i'd especially appreciate anything regarding how she might handle a jamjar setting.

Okay, it's been a while since I've read the source material so I'm just gonna give some RP centric advice.

Rin isn't actually perfect. Rin thinks she is and everything but she has a lot of faults. Her level of 'tsundere' is pretty harsh, she's horrible stubborn, self-centered and selfish, etc. I can't even begin to list the amount of Rin players that I'v seen that don't admit it. So, the main advice I can give you is she isn't going to be the main character and if she gets negative CR don't take it personally. I'm not assuming you WILL act like that but just... yeah. She isn't going to be everyone's friend by a long shot haha.

Honestly, just keep ooc channels open. Don't be afraid to make fun of your own character so people don't think you are one of the Rin stans.

In addition to the above, she is SHIT at anything electronic. It get's played for laughs at times, but most jamjar settings have SOME mechanic that deals with technology, so it's something to keep in mind.

Also, you know, kinda goes with the 'not perfect' thing.
