sometimes i wonder if i'm not blocking out abuse from when i was a child. physical and sexual. not from my parents, they're great, but i have vague memories of physical altercations with my older cousins. i just can't remember how far they went.

my bio dad WAS abusive as hell, but i have a very vivid memory of him dislocating my shoulder and throwing me down a flight of steps when i broke my wrist

but i also have a vivid memory of my mother taking me to the hospital from school when i jumped off of a jungle gym and broke my wrist and dislocated my shoulder and she told literally everyone what happened until it healed up. i remember being terrified of getting my xray because the woman who did it was very no nonsense and threatened to splint it and i didn't know what that was.

i don't know which is real, but considering what my own mother went through under his hand i really think it's the first one but i absolutely hate not knowing

did you have steps in your house when you were a kid? or live in an apartment building? because there's your proof on which one of those being the cause of it being real.

but when you got it fixed your mom could have been telling everyone the jungle gym story and that made your brain make up the jungle gym story to go with the dislocated shoulder and the wrist.

tl;dr brains are weird and can make you think things are real even when they never happened just because you think they did.
