Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. yeah but at what point does the game actually get easy? 30 hours in?

dump everything into dexterity and agility and once you get a gun its a smooth ride

depends on your playstyle but i'd say it stops being balls-busting hard 5~10 hours in, it eases up after you've got a full party of demons rolling. the start is ESPECIALLY brutal since you have no access to gun OR magic (takes a little while to get the gun too, iirc), you can only melee and pray to god the demons will join you instead of killing you without completely draining you dry in every sense of the word (oh yeah speaking of which, HOARD YOUR MACCAS. money is incredibly hard to grind in this game, i typically never recruit demons if they ask for macca barring very rare exceptions, and even at high level when a demon begs for mercy, i will 95% of the time ask them to fork over cash so they can save their own hide. i fusion a lot though, so there's that too i guess). it gets much smoother once you have good support demons and a few reliable spells under your belt.

otherwise, just be on your guard and cross your fingers. i remember getting killed by a mob 30 levels below me once because I got unlucky/careless: they all had multi-target shooting attacks that inflicted status, and one of my demons in my party was weak to shot-based attacks at the time. it was a sobering lesson in NEVER THINK YOU'RE SAFE IN A GAME WHERE DEFENSE DOESN'T EXIST.

getting smirks and extra turns is not as important as making sure the enemy doesnt get them. honestly, in my experience with a dex/agi build, i never found myself needing to farm all that much? when you dont have to focus on stocking up on every available elemental magic, you can focus on buffs like rakunda, luster candy and doping (doping is THE BEST spell in the game). magic is unnecessary for healing once you get mediarahan too, because it heals fully no matter how shitty your magic stat is. (but you're right, spirit drain is basically an essential skill on protag and as many demons as you can put it on)

although you're right its stupidly easy to die from some stupid overworld mob. at least this is one of the few smt games that lets you save anywhere, so i hear

i do agree with this! my getting extra turns mean the enemy would have less chances to though, so it comes around. i also do pack the buffs, just not on me. i'm usually the mvp in my party dishing out the biggest damage numbers so boss fights pass quickly, my demons are there for support because just like what you've said about mediarahan, anything can cast it with the same effect. my damage output however tends to be twice/thrice as high as the demons in my party, and that can't be matched/consistently fused. it's why i've been enjoying my mag only run, and if you haven't ran into money problems, it's probably because you're not a magpie/fusion addict like me. god, I'm still grinding for enough cash so I can get those nifty armor pieces worth a disgusting 200~400k each in member's club because they look sweet... even if their elemental coverage are meh.

and i'm very, VERY thankful for my saves. the nekomatas with the skill to HALVE YOUR MONEY INDISCRIMINATELY can fuck right off, though. i was livid the first time that happened to me.
