What the heckie?

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. it's still odd to me. if you're playing junko and not mukuro, use icons of her. if you're trying to avoid spoiling people, use art of her that's not as blatantly spoilers as a default. like one of the magazine pictures or her art from dr0, or fanart that has her in a less spoilery outfit.

and yeah we're going to have to disagree on that. junko's fashionista "persona" is her real personality, and that's the one mukuro tries to mimic. and she's horrible at it. she gets one expression/pose right (the wide smile) and it's one junko only uses when she's about to die. the rest are either extremely off (the crossed-arms one) or ones that junko herself wouldn't and doesn't use.

mukuro's acting is off as fuck compared to the real deal, but that includes her body language and expressions.

But why is there any reason to believe that Junko's "fashionista" personality is any more real than the umpteen other personalities she switches between? How can you be certain that it's not specifically fabricated to interact with the normal world without arousing suspicion?

IMO, Junko's "real" personality shows itself in the final moments of the last trial, from the last Non-Stop Debate onwards. The sequel features some new sprites for her, and her expressions are very normal: for example, she has two "smiling" emotes and neither are the "wide smile" that you mentioned.

(And Muruko does get some expressions right. The pose where she's twirling with her hair is almost an exact duplicate of Junko's "disappointed" pose, and she nailed Junko's mannerism of holding her hand like a claw when upset.)

because dr0 literally confirms it. her fashionista behavior is part of her regular self, unlike the personas she puts up out of boredom.

you're going to have to clarify on what "disappointed" sprite you're talking about because i'm not seeing it. and the claw-hand thing isn't something junko does when she's upset, it's when she's startled. mukuro does it when she's angry, and it's not in the same way at all.

And just because Muruko doesn't use it correctly (see: bad actress) doesn't mean she hasn't learned it.

Re: DR0... uhhhh... are you talking about the Junko who talks to Ryouko?

ryouko IS junko

(Anonymous) 2014-03-11 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
i'll give you that the expression's fairly close (although mukuro looks angrier thanks to her eyebrows, junko's is more of a "meh, whatever" expression and used that way too iirc), but the rest of her body language still isn't.

and besides, there's literally no reason to use that mukuro sprite when playing junko. it doesn't even work as an extra expression or whatever considering junko's own sprites cover that.

no, i'm not. finish reading both volumes of dr0. preferably twice. especially if you're playing junko. she's not playable properly without finishing dr0.

also, it's mu-ku-ro, not mu-ru-ko.

You ever get that thing where you misspell something enough that your muscle memory just types it even when you realise it's wrong? >

(Anonymous) 2014-03-11 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
try opening a text document and just focus on typing the correct way a couple times. repetition's usually the best way to deal with that.

alternatively there's using copy-and-paste instead but that's tedious and slow.

(Anonymous) 2014-03-11 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks. I'll try that out.

(Anonymous) 2014-03-11 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
Do you have any links to translations of both volumes?

I've been able to find a couple of the first but the second seems only partial.

(Anonymous) 2014-03-11 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
i don't think there's a single full translation for the second volume yet, but let's see.

http://steampunktietime.tumblr.com/post/61035313201/dangan-ronpa-zero-masterlist-faq
has part of the volume done but not the whole thing yet.

http://revolutionpotato.tumblr.com/post/75118713692/dangan-ronpa-zero-book-2-translations
continues where steampunktietime leaves off, covers the rest of the volume.

http://trashbabynoiz.tumblr.com/tagged/Ome-translates-DR0
prologue of the second volume only.

http://silveryogi.tumblr.com/tagged/DR0-summaries/chrono
summaries, not a full translation, but still handy.

http://pan.baidu.com/share/link?shareid=268311&uk=3557198177
chinese fan translation by a baidu user. not sure if that's useful for anyone here but might be worth linking just in case.

i'm not sure how good the english translations are (except for the first one's vol 1 translation mentioning ryouko's "talent" once when her talent never comes up in the original text, and sticking with some of orenronen's weirder choices), but they're probably good enough to get the general gist across at least.

lmao i don't get what you are arguing for here. just use the fucking junko sprite and not the incorrect mukuro one.

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2014-03-11 11:17 am (UTC)(link)
At this point, we were talking more about how accurately Mukuro portrays Junko than the whole "Junko sprite" thing.

Try to keep up.

inaccurately you dumbass.

more like you're being a pseudo-pedantic fuck trying to compare mukuro and junko as if their expressions and therefore sprites are interchangeable. nowhere did you or ayrt stop discussing the sprites, so nice try.

try to stop sperging.

(Anonymous) 2014-03-11 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, now I know you're just trolling.

You're calling me pedantic and yet huffing about the difference between "accurately" and "inaccurately"?
