Unfunny wanky stereotypes

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

escapism recs!

rec your favorite escapism canon! doesn't matter if it's vampire magical girls or flying men with underwear over their tights or throne games or whatever - any medium, any genre, as long as you love it and it helps you forget about the crappy stuff you have to do tomorrow.

bonus points for reccing stuff you think is embarrassing but love anyway.

Pokemon.

Can I just go out into the wilderness and be best friends with magical animals and survive on winnings from fights? Can that just be a thing I do?

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

Sort of embarrassing, sort of wonderful, but there is nothing like its impulsive enthusiastic you-can't-stop-me mania to forget life's bullshit.

If there's a heaven, I would not be disappointed if it was like a Harvest Moon game, preferably 64, Mineral Town, or Animal Parade.

I want to spend my days growing all the cooking ingredients I want and giving the good results out as presents to my neighbors, playing with animals, taking long walks in the mountains, catching fish, and going to festivals with my friends.

Oh god the SJW and feminists would have my fucking HEAD for this, but Sharon Shinn's Samaria stuff. It's basically 'women fucking angels' fantasy fiction. I know it's basically a deep fried cheeseburger but god help me they're what I reach for to turn my brain off.

Or the Southern Vampire Mysteries novels (the ones True Blood is based off). They're a good bit different from the show and fast easy mindless reads.

Portal 2. Even if my day is shitty I can still save the world SOMEwhere.
Also F.E.A.R. 3 because being ungodly powerful and blowing someone into meaty chunks is fun as hell even if the story is painful.

When I was younger it was the novel Into the Land of the Unicorns because I wanted to be special and hang out with Lightfoot dammit.

strangely enough the canons i use the most for escapism are somewhat dystopic, and would still suck ass to live in it even if you're the badass who's destined to save the world.

the only one i'd probably remotely think of living in is the madagascar universe since the film works on cartoon physics and traveling the world would be amazing, or the wizards series as long as you didn't meet the lone power.

Elder Scrolls series. Morrowind for the ambiance, Oblivion for the story, Skyrim for the gameplay.

Becomes 100x more fun if you have a gaming PC.

most of my oldschool nostalgic childhood stuff

so that's basically pokemon, digimon, spyro, kirby, ccs and stuff. sonic too, but only for the chao raising part. thrill seeker or villain by day, doesn't matter, you all come back to these gooey cute things and babble over them no matter who you are.

I also guiltily enjoy the original ygo series though I'm not quite sure if it qualifies as escapism exactly

another anon upthread said okami and I think that's great too. p much any videogame where I can be cute at things okay. or screw around at them. but then start cooing over them again right after. feeding all the animals was my life.

Animal Crossing. Cute animal neighbors, a fancy house, money practically growing on trees and one bill that I can just pay whenever I want.

Also Harvest Moon.
