I'm a 20+ driver and I'll admit that I get highly nervous when it comes to driving on highways. People on highways drive like insane people and a lot of accidents tend to happen on highways. I rather take back roads to get where I need to go. But if the highway is a must route, I rather have someone else drive than me.

actually iirc more accidents happen in local traffic than on highways. people don't pay attention on local roads.

accidents on highways are just more likely to be fatal or severe for obvious reasons. local road accidents are more often but they're more often little fender benders

i don't know about you but i fear being in a fatal accident way more than i fear being in a fender-bender
