Unfunny wanky stereotypes

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

this is the only reason you should ever try it

if you're a hardcore skeptic nothing is going to come of it and you'll be safe tbh

i will never try it. if you asked this because you are considering it, please don't.

i haven't read extensively on experiences with the ritual but after reading the steps it sounds a whole lot like a ouija board but with even more explicit inviting of the spirit to come in. doing this gives a wandering spirit incredible power. all around us, there's spirits, and some aren't human. imagine sitting in an alley in new york at night and offering free handjobs to anyone passing by on the street. that's basically what you're doing. you won't attract everyone but eventually a spirit will find your offer and take advantage of that. inviting something in is easy, getting rid of it is not, especially when you believe in it and are afraid of it. such things only give it power if it is malignant.

if you're a believer, please listen to me. if you're a skeptic feel free to disregard, but i still wouldn't try the ritual. i've seen a skeptical, rational nasa engineer believe in the devil after supposedly witnessing evil spirits in his house. it can happen to anyone.

inb4 skeptic anons calling me stupid. i'm not going to 'prove' anything to you because i don't care. i believe what i believe. and op, if you believe in this stuff, that ritual is dangerous.

2spooky ritual to let a spirit into your home or something.

I regret looking it up honestly cause it's late where I am and now I keep thinking about it.

why would you ever do this
skeptic or not

(Anonymous) 2014-02-23 06:06 am (UTC)(link)
This is the thing that gets me. If you believe in it, why would you do it at all. If you don't, why would you waste your time like that.

I'm an atheist skeptic don't believe in shit kind of person, but I've heard way too many people I trust tell me about shit like this that I can't just throw it out.

So, don't mess.

protip: anyone who 'experiences' stuff is often tricking themselves into seeing things. their mind expects 'evil spirits', ergo it perceives small, everyday things as horrific incursions by monsters.

A true skeptic would never waste their times with it - the people who try it have at least some small amount of belief in it, otherwise they wouldn't have bothered going through the effort. Ergo, you trick yourself into being scared.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-23 06:54 am (UTC)(link)
yeah. i know for a fact that there's no such things as ghosts and all that, but i also know for a fact that my brain is incredibly good at scaring the shit out of itself

No, plenty of true skeptics will do it, just to prove to everyone around them that nothing will come of it. It's human nature.

Most of them will also freak themselves the fuck out and end up jumping at nothing or hiding in a corner, because that's also part of human nature. The part of our lizardbrain that likes to tell us that yes, there absolutely is something out there in the dark just waiting to eat our lungs through our eyesockets is a huge part of our species' survival instinct, which makes it a hell of a lot stronger than any rational belief.

It's the same reason we walk faster after dark, or check to see if anyone's there when we know it's just the house settling, or look behind us when a stray current of air from the vent evokes a sense of movement. There are a million different things that trigger prey instinct, and that sort of silly ritual stacks the deck to do so, whether you believe in "evil spirits" or not.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-23 07:02 am (UTC)(link)
a five-minute google perusing turned up a japanese source saying the ritual was completely made up for creepypasta purposes, i.e., that it isn't an actual thing in japan

so even if you're not a skeptic you're just scaring yourself

(Anonymous) 2014-02-23 07:06 am (UTC)(link)
It's a summoning ritual that has grounds in occult/pagan rituals. You can "summon" a spirit with a Hasbro ouija board. The method doesn't really matter so much as the intent (either the believer will believe that something is being summoned if you're a skeptic, or the spirit will take any venue of coming into contact with us if you're a believer.)

googling more about this, youtube comments are great

i'm pretty far off on the left handed side of things. so, i'm not really sure if this is good advice. but, i do this all the time for sprit writing. what i suggest is tears. it creates sympathetic energy. never use blood for anything. it summons daemons, not ghosts. sperm works as well. too well. if you try this again rent a hotel room.

in order to have an experience with spirits, go to a hotel and jack off in a doll
