Unfunny wanky stereotypes
Rundown:
rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.
Rules:
Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-22 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)I try tagging around, rereading my tags before I post, try to put hooks in my posts for already established CR and strangers. People say they'd play -
but nothing. It's killing my motivation that it feels like no one gives a fuck. It's like 'no one will tag me, why bother'.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-22 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)a lot of the time, people complain that no one's biting onto their "hooks," but what they're really doing is throwing out little details about their character that they personally find interesting, and that's fine (imo, i like those) but they don't always give something to respond to, depending on the character. i happen to play a lot of types who will quietly note certain details for future reference, but won't immediately latch onto them in conversation. there's also the fact that natural, organic conversation doesn't involve probing into the meaning behind so-and-so's scars or "casually" alluded to dark-and-tragic-past. not saying that's what you're doing, but it's very common and - yes - boring.
it's also very possible that people find your characters boring, not because of your rping, but because they don't care for certain tropes. there isn't a lot you can do about that unless you take care to develop them outside of those tropes, but people may have already written your characters off. sometimes this is just a game issue and a matter of finding a better fit.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-22 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)don't just pepper them with dialogue, either. that gets super dull really fast. no offense, but too many rpers rp like they're playing dolls, and nobody moves much because they don't have very many manipulable parts. body language is good, even if it's just fidgeting to show that they're nervous or wild gesticulation because they don't express themselves very clearly in words.
