rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Since someone sent the link to this thread... (FT5 spoilers)
Most of the Japanese fandom - at least from what I've seen - seems to agree that the voiced lines in Komaeda's fifth FT event hold romantic implications. There's definitely a very clear subject switch from キミ to キミの中に眠る希望, and combined with the tone in the voice clip, the usage of 愛している, and the fairly emotional tone of the entire event... it definitely sounds a lot like he originally wanted to ask to be remembered for his love for Hinata, but backed out and changed what he was going to say at the last moment.
Like the above anon already mentioned, it's made clearer in the Another Story Red/Crimson Edition drama CD. It's one of two CDs based on the various FT events, and Komaeda's track (#8) eventually has him say this after a failed attempt to get Hinata to remember his talent:
Komaeda: でも、ボクはあきらめないよ。日向クンへの協力はこの先も惜しまない。だって、ボクは日向クンが好きだからね。ボクはどうしようもなく無能だと知ってもなお、こうしてボクと話をしてくれるキミの事が…ボクは大好きなんだ。
The bolded bit is what's notable - he starts off saying he won't give up (on trying to help Hinata remember), and that even after this he'll keep doing everything to assist Hinata... because he likes him. He uses "suki," which can mean "like" or "love," and which is pretty commonly used when telling someone you're in love with them. On its own, that'd still be ambiguous, but then he goes on to mention how Hinata keeps talking to him eve after findin out how hopelessly incompetent he is, and how that's what he loves about him. He uses "daisuki" here, which shares the same meaning as "suki" but has stronger connations and tends to lean more toward "love" than "like" - and he even audibly emphasizes the "dai" part.
From what I've seen, most people in the Japanese fandom seem to take that as a confirmation that Komaeda really does have feelings for Hinata. It was a pretty big deal back when drama CD first came out.
So... yep. It's generally agreed that he does have romantic feelings for Hinata, from the looks of it. The extent of those feelings is a bit more debatable; I've seen opinions on that range from treating it as long-lasting true love (which seems to be especially common in the English fandom) to viewing it as more of a minor crush that could pass with time if nothing happens. In-game, he's okay with just being friends as well as with putting his feelings aside if the circumstances demand it, so that's worth keeping in mind, too.

The few times I do any roleplaying these days, it's usually on memes, since being an awfully slow tagger isn't as much of an issue there. And yep, sometimes I do play DR characters - both because I find the characters themselves interesting to play, and because it can actually be a good way to work out how to best get their way of speaking across in English, as strange as that might sound.
