Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

You know, I've never understood why some people get so upset about character squatting.

Did they play a very popular character? Did they play a character that you personally want to play? Is there a mob of people clamoring to play that character but can't because someone else holds the deed to that character?

It's not like there's a finite amount of space for players. So the only reason I think anyone could or should care is if they have someone willing to take up the reigns.

actually, the player was indeed playing a character I wanted to play and this was the setting I wanted to play them in. they weren't very good at playing them anyway tho so I'd rather not app in now that the character's been sullied.

i thought we sprayed these comms for highlanders.

I'm sorry but that's bullshit.

If you really like the character and are inspired by the setting? Then you shouldn't let their portrayal stop you from trying to bring your version of the character to life.

It's insulting to the former player, the character and it isn't giving yourself any credit.

No one writer is so terrible that they can ruin a character for all time. To believe that is asinine.

And being blind to the canon? I didn't think they were that bad to begin with. But if you really believe you can do it better? Step up.

it'd be too much of a hassle to fix their messed up, ooc cr so nty

Re: TERMINAL TOKYO

(Anonymous) 2014-01-10 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Well then could you at least list the ways that they have acted OOC and how you would do things differently?

Or are you going to simply sit in the shadows and make claims of superiority without proof?

I mean it's not like you have to prove anything to RPanons. No one's going to know or probably care.

But it does take some of the weight out of your statements if you can't/don't/won't.

Talk is cheap after all.

encouraging rpanons to be a public hmd are we?

I'm just finding it hard to believe that anyone can ruin a character so completely that it's "Too much of a hassle" to fix.

Re: TERMINAL TOKYO

(Anonymous) 2014-01-10 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
because characters will remember the oocness? it's not my responsibility to fix, so playing elsewhere would be simpler and more fun for me

Re: TERMINAL TOKYO

(Anonymous) 2014-01-10 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
So what's stopping you from listing the ways that they were wrong?

Because to the canon blind there didn't appear to be anything wrong. So just saying they were OOC doesn't help.

Re: TERMINAL TOKYO

(Anonymous) 2014-01-10 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
because "everything" is never an acceptable answer

it's that bad

just go look into the canon and you'll find out

I'd love to, I really would because everyone was talking about that series last year...but there's so many other series and shows and books that I'm already behind on.

So why not just put up some of the most important things?

(Anonymous) 2014-01-10 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
either they have nothing or they are just baiting you jfc

(Anonymous) 2014-01-10 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I was kind of hoping to drag it out long enough to prove it was both.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-10 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
pretty sure you're just a stupid cunt

(Anonymous) 2014-01-10 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Perhaps, but you're the one wasting precious time talking to me when you could be having fun playing a character you love in a game that inspires you.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-10 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
that anon wasn't me. flatanon watching this dumb as fuck argument happen.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-10 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Eh, we all waste our time how we like. Mine just happens to involve this pointless discussion about a character I never interacted with from a show I've never watched.

That and I'm catching up on Daily Show reruns. I'll Miss John Oliver.

ok, mikasa mun, if you want crit so badly just post an hmd post on your journal

Re: TERMINAL TOKYO

(Anonymous) 2014-01-10 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I think you're proving my point for me.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-11 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
Actually just now getting around to checking anon comms and wow this thread exploded. Didn't realize it was that big of an issue, but I do have a HMD post in her journal. Have this entire time. It's kind of hard to miss since it's the first top post in her journal.

I also posted to the game HMD saying I'd be willing to take crit for her even though I dropped the character.

As for the rest, the only reason I held off on not dropping her was because I was given permission to take a strike when I went on hiatus for unrelated reasons. I decided in the end that it wasn't fair despite it being a mod ruling and dropped her. Had I known it was an issue, I would have even dropped her before the application period was up. I'm honestly pretty confident with her characterization, just had some shit luck with squatting castmates in the beginning so if you feel I was off SO BADLY that the whole 2-3 people she had CR with won't be flexible with you as a new character, then it's really your loss. The game is full of understanding players who I'm sure would be acceptable of your wants if you didn't make an ass of yourself here.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-11 01:52 pm (UTC)(link)
hardly anyone is going to leave you crit if you have ip logging on and anon off.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-12 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
ok

Re: TERMINAL TOKYO

(Anonymous) 2014-01-10 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
you forgot one

do they have castmates who they're inconveniencing

Re: TERMINAL TOKYO

(Anonymous) 2014-01-10 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah! Thank you I did forget that. And yes that can be a legitimate problem.

So were they? How?
