yeah it had a predictable plot that was relevant to about half the episodes. but most of the characters were barely even fleshed out.

rei is a motivated megane nerd, hilarious!

nagisa is kawaii and perky! he's girly and perfect for yaoi

gou is a perfect female character since it's okay to have a boy's name and she's hilarious because she likes shirtless dudes omg!!

rin looks like a hot bishounen badboy and he's rivals with haruka and that's some deep nakama shit

makoto is nice and that's nice

what exactly are you trying to prove? who cares if someone likes free. who cares if you personally think the plot is shallow? different people experience different things and continually shouting "free has no plot!! give it up already, free has no plot!! i'm right and you're wrong" on the internet isn't going to change anyone's opinion.

i happen to think bleach, cowboy bebop, samurai champloo, dragon ball z, and one piece are devoid of plot, but it doesn't stop anyone else from finding enjoyment or plot somewhere in there.
