Rundown:

rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

i was heavy into yugioh when it was first getting really popular. i wasn't too up on my bnfs, i mostly remember one who was considered the person to go to for scanslations (since this was before reading sites and widely-available downloads and shit, you had to join her e-mail group, because this was also back in the days where e-mail groups were still a thing). i kind of hated her though because not only did she throw in a lot of gratuitous and difficult-to-parse fangirl japanese, she got most of it wrong since she was translating from chinese releases. i was trying to improve my japanese by reading original scans (yes, yes i know) so i would catch smaller ones where she was just using the wrong word, but there was some really blatantly incorrect stuff that i can't believe she never got called out on.

she was also kind of a snot about how good her scanslations were, so it chafed my ass a lot more than it should've. although i kept my hate to self-important passive-aggression so it didn't come to anything anyway, and looking back on it now it was all ridiculously stupid and i'm embarrassed by how angry i got over it.
