Uhh

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

Because he's a white male and his support for sj issues is erasing the hard work of the oppressed parties!!!! Scream the cis white girls on tumblr.

I don't understand???

It's basically the white girls of tumblr getting asspained because he's received a lot of positive attention for his songs and views even tho, omg, he used a slurrrrr in his soooooong. Apparently his popularity undermines other artists in the same field because they're poc? There's a thing going around like 'less robin thicke more macklemore' and of course that's interpreted as WHITE GUY GETS ALL THE LOVE, DISGUSTING when the point is that there needs to be less white guys like robin and more like macklemore.

It's just ironic to me that these tumblr babies are crying that he's a white guy taking the spotlight for social justice when they're all trying desperately to do the same thing.

tl;dr idk i guess i'm still really sad that he died in the sixth harry potter book

please excuse me while i crack the fuck up at your last line

(Anonymous) 2013-09-10 03:38 pm (UTC)(link)
what slur? faggot? he used that to prove a point.

although omg i just looked up the racialicious article and i am cracking up at this. And in the third verse he raps, “and a certificate on paper isn’t gonna solve it all, but it’s a damn good place to start.” For many queer people of color who have not seen themselves represented in the marriage equality campaign, it can be very hurtful to have a straight person–let alone a white one in a musical genre that was created to address white supremacy–tell them where the best place to start is. where do i even staaaaaaaaaaaart.

Omfg I didn't even know people were nitpicking that. He's not fucking telling you where to start, he's telling society you fucking idiots.

This is what I hate about sjw culture, it isn't fighting for justice or a cause it's just endless nitpicking and hate breeding and just a big ugly fight to prove who is THE MOST INFORMED.

yueeeeup. and how many of them have ever done an hour of volunteer or social work in their lives, to actually, ya know, HELP these oppressed populations?

"sry too busy posting on tumblr and portaying fictional characters on the internet"

the hypocrisy is the worst part about it

(Anonymous) 2013-09-10 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
"these tumblr babies are crying that he's a white guy taking the spotlight for social justice when they're all trying desperately to do the same thing."
Really hit the nail on the head on why it's impossible to take these people seriously.

it's not because he's white

it's because he's straight

and acting like he's the first pro-gay artist in hip-hop

even though there are, and have been, queer artists. that are being ignored in his stead.

that's the problem people have with macklemore. where he not in the spotlight, he'd be fine. his song would be fine. the fact that he's getting more praise and attention than actual queer people, and the fact that he stole the song from a queer artist is a problem.

sorry you have trouble understanding that

(Anonymous) 2013-09-11 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
Give me a source that proves he's acting like the first pro-gay artist in hip-hop and another that proves he stole the song and maybe I will walk into the glorious light shining from your ass, sjw.

Also fun fact: when people continue to point out that he's white, cis and male and condemn him for it in all of their angry posts, it diminishes the sentiment behind their original post. If you can't get your head out of your ass for five seconds to speak about something factually and not bring petty insults and judgement into it, people might actually fucking listen.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/08/29/le1f-gay-rapper-blasts-macklemore_n_3836703.html

the fucking lyrics of same love:
"If I was gay, I would think hip-hop hates me"

you ding dong

also, pointing out that he's straight and talking over queer people isn't "petty insults" wtf, anon

(Anonymous) 2013-09-11 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
...that doesn't fucking mean he's acting like the first pro-gay hip-hop artist or anything. he's saying that if he were gay he'd feel as if hip hop hates him. he's talking about what he knows because he's a hip hop artist. what? what the shit? stealing the song from a queer artist? what because he's getting more attention than mary lambert?

the guy is popular because he had a couple other catchy popular songs and same love didn't even get popular until this year (it was released over a year ago). he's not "talking over queer people." he's expressing support for gay rights. people are going to give him more attention because he was already popular. considering how backwards gay rights are in the states and that he wrote the song with his uncles in mind (who are featured on the cover), any support is a good thing in my book. it's not like he's complaining about not being eligible for the lambda award or anything like that. he's saying people have to change and cast aside their differences even though he's not a member of the oppressed group.

did you even read the first link

he literally stole the beat/rhythm from le1f

(Anonymous) 2013-09-12 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
i actually just scanned over the link without even registering it

yes, wut and thrift shop sound way too alike. it's definitely arguable that thrift shop ripped its rhythm from wut. but same love's rhythm wasn't stolen from anything.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-11 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
also, that response wasn't over the top or anything. what's your problem, anon?
