if i could do whatever i wanted it'd be both somehow.

probably going to app human where possible just for ease of icons/getting serious CR because i'm lazy. plus most of the games i want to play birds at are not very welcoming to actual birds, ironically enough.

if i play a bird i'll want to play them as a bird if at all possible. i also like seeing people play them as birds

i just love birds they're adorable, and i think it would be a fun challenge. plus i don't really see how "well he thinks he's a bird, talks about being a bird, goes to a school for birds, and USES THE WORD "EVERYBIRDIE" IN COMPLETE SERIOUSNESS but at least he looks like an anime boy!" is that much less damning for "serious" CR

RPers have weird hang ups about the icons of who they're tagging sometimes. It really depends on the sensibility of who you're tagging with, I think.

Besides, they all have... other things to talk about than being a bird? It's not like they use EVERYBIRDIE EVERYBIRDIE in every sentence. They're pigeons, not parrots, yo.

I prefer seeing them as birds, since a lot of the humor came from seeing birds do human things. Plus I'm not sure I'm interested in having them freak out over being SUDDENLY HUMAN unless it's an AU setting

If I'm going to app somewhere, I'd like to play as a bird. All the humour/puns would have a bit more oomph. Plus, if I play it right, I'd hope to get the reaction of, "Ahaha, oh, bird crack... wait, wait there's pathos here, wut?" from my fellow players, just as the game got that reaction from me.

If I just play in memes and museboxes I'd play both/either, 'cause it's all for funsies.

I like seeing both birds and humans, actually. It'd be neat to see the difference in play that would present, and I think it'd create a bit more variety in what you see when stalking casts.

personally apping into a game as a human. i suppose for a lot of reasons but mostly probably for the sake of icons. also for the fact that it's easier for me to understand human facial expressions and body language. i tend to imagine the characters as humans anyway while thinking of them. also i'm one of those people that finds it fun for them to deal with suddenly being human and am pretty excited for that.

i like seeing it done both ways and i think it'd be interesting if someone else apped another character into my game in bird form. i think there's a lot of potential for both forms and that we should all hold hands/wings and sing kumbaya and try to get along and accept whatever form other muns choose to play them in. but that's just me.

Yeah, I do this, too. I'm very locked into human facial expressions, so I tend to picture that for emoting, even without realizing it.

...I want this, now. mO_Om I had been afraid of apping into an existing human cast if I wanted to play a birdie, but... putting the two TOGETHER sounds very intriguing.

yeah, i'm going to be playing sakuya as a human who is hopefully getting a yuuya that's a bird and i am SO EXCITED. it's going to be delicious.

Man, just last night I was thinking of making a Yuuya account called christmasdinner but I refrained. Now I am tempted once more.

I'm not currently playing a Hatoful character, but I don't mind either portrait.

Honestly, I think it just depends on the game you're apping into. If it seems like the setting isn't very receptive to animal characters, then go ahead and play as their human portraits. If animal characters are accepted and given the same weight as human characters, then go for the bird! Hell, why not blend bird actions with human icon expressions? That'd be interesting. (Or confusing, lol.)

Personally, I don't think it matters. The characters' personalities should still be the same in some way, birdie or not. It's up to the player to make it work. If they can do it, then kudos to them!

Addendum: I really hope this whole human/bird thing doesn't become a make-or-break deal for people. I know the fandom is a little new and still working things out, but don't let the species of the characters become a hang up. Any new players interested in picking up a character should feel free to choose whichever they can play with best.

I've been enjoying this fledgling fandom for how sweet and welcoming everybody is, so I hope Birds versus Hoomans doesn't become a point of contention. To each their own, right?

Plus, I figure if the canon material gives us the option of viewing them as either, it's not really wrong to go with one or the other.

Agreed so very hard on not letting this become make-or-break. I really hope everyone can just have fun playing the way they want to play without anyone else getting upset about it.

i hope the BIRDIES VS HOOMANS doesn't spawn drama, because this has been one of the sweetest fandoms i've ever been in so far.

I'm personally hoping for bird, but I don't mind going human form.

It really depends on the game and the bird I'm apping. For example, I'd don't mind Anghel as either human or bird. Chances are, he'd blame Shuu for his human form as a CURSE BY THE DARK SORCERER.

Eh I personally don't mind, and I keep icons of both forms. In the game I'm in, I play as a bird and birds are just kind of my default "mode" for the characters, though I'd be perfectly willing to play as a human in a game where it'd be more appropriate.

In memes I also ask taggers to specify if they want human or birdie.
