Is there any actual way that the mods go through the apps?

Because it seems like they've done this date system and then tossed it to the wind in some cases.

Judging by some skipped apps, it seems like the mods go through the ones they know better first, then leave the rest for last.

Looks like they're having trouble keeping up with the increased popularity of the game lately. They need to make a push to get the pending apps done asap and then think about starting up an app round system, imo. And/or take on more app mods.

I don't think an app round system would work in a game like StE. It works fine in jamjar type games because those can easily be made to be a cycle for when the jamjar gods/overlords/whatever dump new people in. Doesn't make sense with StE when characters are going to have been living in the premise for some time and then just happen to get an echo and connect to the network.

Also, app cycles just cause a flood in a smaller period rather than a slow trickle over time. They actually overwhelm mods even more and slow the plot down to a grinding halt while the new characters intro and then a lot of newbies get missed as well. App cycles are honestly really bad and games should avoid going that route if they can.

Honestly their system seems to be that they wait until the date given and then work on the apps and then fail to estimate well the time it takes and end up being late.

On top of that, they are really slow accepting the new characters to the comms as well, that's why you don't see their OOC or IC intro for a time after the acceptance, often the new characters have to wait an additional day to start playing.

Either there is some serious breakdown in timely communication on stuff or the mods are getting overwhelmed. Something needs to get fixed or maybe the mods should consider having certain members of the team concentrate on certain things or else we may well be getting big enough to actually need an app team or app cycles, app team preferred because I don't think cycles will fix this and they don't suit this sort of game.

They're behind and a lot of them they just seem to be tossing up revision requests for.

Which, fine, some of them need reworking. Still seems like an attempt to buy time when you leave the app that long to start with.

And then they often are taking another week to respond to the revision on top of that when they should have the app mostly done and just need to see if the revision is good enough.

Can't help but feel that they should have just stuck with doing the apps actually in order and effectively 'powering through' the canons they might not know.

That way they'd at least be done and out of the way instead of still sitting there.

Agreed, though the worst is when they give the impression that it's just a tiny revision and once you get it to us we'll accept your app because it's really no huge deal, player responds quickly, mods don't.

I think somewhere there is a breakdown going on in how apps are done. It's hard to say if the mods are just the worst procrastinators possible or if they have something else delaying things, like so many mods have to agree on it and one mod tends to be slow in responding. One thing is obvious, it seems to always be Blue doing them. Maybe she's having to carry more than her fair share of weight and her time is limited.

Whatever the issue is, it's getting to be intolerable because it's doubtful things will change, and instead just get worse. They need to figure out what's wrong and fix it. If procrastination is the issue, then try setting a lower timeframe. If the issue is a mod not carrying their weight, then maybe they need to be replaced or maybe we should rearrange how things are done and get in some folks who are good with apps and let the others do stuff they are good at and faster with.

Additionally, I think it would be worth looking into processing Echo requests in a more timely manner. Some logs can't continue until the player knows if their request has been approved or not.

The echo requests being so slow when they take very little time most of the time (and also knowing how fast they can be with them) is what makes me think procrastination is the issue. Especially because of how they suddenly get done when someone bitches on here or wankgate.

Honestly, I think they need to go with tighter deadlines and have a mod dedicated to each. An echo request shouldn't need more than 24-48 hours to either accept or ask for clarification on. It also might not hurt to put something on there that people can go ahead and use them in their log if the echo falls into certain conditions that guarantee approval, like a memory or useless object being gained for a plot, have yet to see one of those denied so it would be safe to go ahead and play as if it will be accepted while waiting on the rubber stamping. It's the powers, useful objects, body changes, and canon recurrences that aren't guaranteed.

By this point it feels like a bit of a game.

How many apps/revisions will they do in one night before they just abruptly stop? 3? 4?
