Countdown to free!dom

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

Re: CANON UPDATING

To be honest I think as long as you have a well-defined world set around your character and there are rules in place to prevent ridiculous overpowering (which can happen even in published canons), canon updating an OC is fine. But to do it I think a player should have the entirely of the canon written up and show to the mods so that they can decide for themselves whether or not it makes sense. Canon-updating for OCs (or AUs) should be stricter because the mods have to decide whether or not the player is pulling shit out of their ass for the sake of special snowflake syndrome and I don't have a problem with that.

Agreed. It's not like authors don't have special snowflake syndrome and pull shit with published characters either. However, the difference with an OC in a game here is that you actually have the author, so to speak, and can hold them to account. With a fan-character, they can only work with what the author gave them.
