Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

Although I get that this event would be a good way to build some CR. It's a toss up for me, I understand why people are pissed off about flakes or just lack of activity in their rooms, but I'm not at all surprised that it's happening. It's hard to maintain steam on 3 character threads most of the time, 5+ when not all of the players have done a ton of planning or communicate often is bound to fall apart.

I didn't really plan and I'm not there, but I'm not going to pretend my character did anything useful afterwards. A few players in my room all knew each other already and didn't show interest in starting new CR in the planning threads, so I figure there's no big loss in letting them run the show. It's a cool event and a lot of people are getting a lot out of it, but I think it also depends on the mix of characters in each room. Some of them are going to be incredibly dull, others will be great.

I'll admit upfront that I'm just not that interested and I'm being a lazy asshole by not tagging, but there are some valid reasons for why people might not be making this event a priority. If someone made promises and isn't tagging, just carry on without them. If you don't have enough active players in your room, that fucking blows, but that's honestly a flaw of the event design for expecting the majority of the player base to be interested and active all at once.

I can understand not being invested or simply busy, but then isn't it worth at least contacting the other people involved to let them know? I had most of the people in my room talking about what their characters would do and then only two of them actually tagging at all. It would be nice if the others would at least let us know if something had come up or if they weren't interested so we could work out details.

It is, yes. I let the other players know not to wait on me as part of my minimal planning. Honestly I think I'm arguing middle ground while most of the complaints about this event are on extremes, I should've been more clear on my standpoint.

The people in my room weren't even fucked enough to come up with an ooc decision as to which character is going, and all they needed to do was run an RNG. Your friends are ditching on it so you are too? Fuck you.

There are people in your room waiting for you to tag in so we can pursue what the whole point of the log was, game CR with people who are locked in a small space with you for 48 hours without food. Believe it or not that does things to people, mentally. And you can't even post once to acknowledge your character exists? Because other people's characters seem like they might be boring? Something you've decided without even playing with them. Just fuck you. You are a rude, cliquey little shit.

We're not talking about flakes, we're talking about people not tagging in. Just one response, so I can get an idea about what your character's reaction is, because I'm apparently the one who has to handwave what their experience of them in that room is. Or better still, have your character asleep if you're not interested, just let the other players fucking know. 'I think you're all boring shits and I don't want to play in this event so my character will be asleep' will do. We'll know who to avoid in the future then.

I'm sorry, but this attitude stinks. Valid reasons are for people whose grandmother spontaneously died. Valid reasons are not well other people's characters suck. YOU suck. JFC people in this game.

Sorry, I wasn't really clear. I'm not sure how "some friends planned things out and are playing among themselves" translated into your response. If it seemed like things were stuck, or just one person was going, I might offer to help. That's not what's happening in my room, I'm sorry that's what's happening in yours. I did get in touch and let the other players know how my character's being boring so they can ignore them and not to wait on me. On that point we're talking about two different situations.

I don't think they're "boring shits" at all, but my wording was shit, so I know how you got there. Saying some rooms would be dull was a rude blanket statement and there's no way to read it other than how you did. What I meant is some rooms have zero conflict because everyone is nice and self-sacrificing, but that's still me being dumb because that just means positive CR built up during a crisis. I think the people in my room are friendly and good players, and they're obviously having fun, but this event just isn't a priority for me in terms of my other games and what's going on in real life right now.

I get why you're mad if your room is that stagnate with zero people checking in with you. I'm seriously sorry that the event is turning into such a wash for you. You were right to call me on sounding like a judgmental dick based on my language, but I promise you me not participating is all down to me managing this game badly, which is still rude for the disservice it does to other players, but it's not the personal vendetta you think it is.

At least you admit that it's rude, but honestly you're not the extreme I'm talking about, since as you say you got in contact with the people in your room to let them know you wouldn't be doing anything. (Assuming you contacted them all, and not just the people you have CR with). The thing is, I manage this game badly too, but I knew that this event was important, and that flaking on it just wasn't on for the people you're playing with. One tag over a whole week wasn't asking a lot. It wasn't going to put any pressure on your private time or stop you playing at other games, although it is absolutely RP and sometimes you just don't have time for stuff. I get that. But there are other people in this game that just didn't make the effort, IC or OOC, and they're obviously not you or me.

You're right, I'm arguing from a different perspective and should have laid that out clearly in my initial comment. Thanks for responding again and understanding where I'm coming from.

You're also right that one comment isn't hard, and you've motivated me to quit being a lazy jerk and tag so the other players aren't being short-changed on the "room full of opinions" dynamic of the event, even if I let them know I'm ducking out after a few comments.

You're not so bad, anon. For the record I hope that you do stick around, because you seem genuinely interested in staying cool, and I know if I was in your room I'd be grateful that you just stuck your head in.
