I keep hearing about much has already gone down in this game, but its really hard to keep track of/find as an outsider. So is it even worth trying to app into this game, or is it mostly for current players from here till the end?

i think that "mods play favorites with event slots" is horseshit though.

You mean the resistance group that excludes anyone who tries to get in that doesn't have their nose up the Zelda player's arse? The same group of players who get everything handed to them because they're buddies with the head mod? As a completely new player, I've already been getting this vibe. I really don't want to believe it, but it's concerning and I'm worried I won't be able to get my character involved in the plot at all.

this is one of the reasons i ended up leaving. i got included during one of the big events, thanks to mods placing my character there, but as soon as the event was over i was kind of excluded from player plotting. every time i offered my character up for some aspect of the resistance it just kind of went unanswered until i gave up.

Please do. If the characters are going to be acting as a resistance on behalf of the residents of the tower, they need to find a way to be more open to plotting and involving other people.

They're starting a war in the tower that most other characters will get caught in the middle of.

You can't really know who's a "friend" of the mods just by watching Plurk. Of course you're going to see people involved in the plot talking to the mods on Plurk often, because being involved in the plot means communicating with the mod team. That doesn't mean they're friends with the mods, or were friends with them before their characters became plot-relevant.

its a shame because im not sure its entirely the zelda-player's fault. its because her character is on a pedestal and everyone is forced to flock to her. maybe what we really need is some more leadership to try and balance it out?

Your best option, instead of being aggressive on fucking RP Anons, would be to make an OOC post in Animus asking if anyone would be interested in being involved instead of whining on plurk then being pissy here.

over on the ooc comm the Saber Lily player seems to have tried to get a brief little dossier gathered, and in my experience it's not hard to keep up but then again it might also be my character choices

tbh i'm wondering what the ic reasoning for apps continuing would be since the Administrators-- or at least the head honcho-- threw a shitfit over the player characters breaking things as part of the plot, and since there's a time limit on the tower now why are you continuing the rescue mission

If she's flipped her shit at them for breaking stuff, maybe she's trying to hurt the PCs by trapping their loved ones in a hopeless situation. Or maybe she's hoping to bring in people who will see things her way.

Or maybe she's just one of those people that just wants to watch the world burn.

I just apped into the game and I've been having a really hard time figuring out what has already happened. I don't understand why the mods haven't compiled some sort of timeline of major events and such because as a new player, I'm feeling really alienated with this whole "big reveal" happening when I don't have any clue what is going on and I don't know where to look to find out.

As much as I love the premise, I think I might drop. I just don't know what to do with my character or how to integrate them into all of this.

The thing about Animus is that the plot isn't pushed along from event to event, it's just like... a steady undercurrent of things constantly that the players have all managed to make come to a head about now. February was like the first anything big happened really happened in an event, because stuff from before then like Space Whale and Infighting and Labyrinth, other stuff like that- was more or less "suddenly an event" more than a specifically plotty event, with the exception of Infighting. It's been in the months since February this year that any of the resistance stuff has actually been relevant, or that they really did anything at all. Still, the issue is on them for not being entirely transparent I guess, and it's easy to miss them since... underground resistance stuff.

I apped in in February so I hear you on the "whoa" though. Like I said, Saber Lily's compiled a decent thing here (http://no-longer-a-king.dreamwidth.org/10383.html) and posted it on the OOC comm, though of course there's always a question of whether it's too little, too late.

Oh, I get that, but it would still be really helpful to have something like a summary of the things that have happened and the discoveries that have been made that could be linked in the FAQ or somewhere easily accessible by new and potential players.

I will agree that as a newcomer to the tower that the plot is moving quickly now and had it not been for castmates for my character, I would have been lost. However, claiming nepotism as the other anons have is rather childish and immature. If you wish to be involved, find someone and get yourself involved. Tohko, Enoch and Zelda are talkative enough, and if you are willing to spend the time to get the CR, they will slowly trust you.

I never claimed anything like that, though? I just said I was having trouble figuring out what was going on and what had already happened and wishing that there was some sort of compilation of information for newbies to look at so they wouldn't feel quite so confused. That's all I wanted.
