Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

it's a problem if you've posted eight times in less than three weeks and have given your characters about the same amount of echoes. like think about the newbies who are getting shoved down and are getting outpaced. also why not tag other people's posts versus just posting every little thing? the network isn't lyall's personal blog. there's also the matter of waiting to post. wait until a bunch of things have happened then consolidate all those happenings in one post. it cuts down on obnoxious spam.

She does have an hmd. If it really bothers you that much leave her some crit there.

not anon-enabled.

well, if you hadn't been so quick to rush here and start throwing a fit, you could have left crit that i'm sure would have been taken politely without resorting to anon. that player is very nice and open.

and on this topic anyway, i also don't see a problem with them posting often. this game is pretty different than most in that stuff is happening very quickly, so it makes sense that characters trying to stay on top of things would post quite a bit.

they posted twice on the same day on two occasions (April 1 and April 6). there's frequent and then there's obnoxious. stuff is happening quickly for everyone. who else is posting twice on the same day? it's just courtesy to space your posts so other people, especially newbies, don't get shoved down. before the mods changed the entry page to show more posts, a few intros had already been pushed to the second page. if someone posts this much, it creates a ripple effect. people with posts that got pushed down end up posting again without spacing. you end up with a lot of posts and not a lot going on in them. the older posts don't get tagged as much and threads on them get dropped.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-18 12:59 pm (UTC)(link)
i don't believe for a second in your "ripple effect." people are posting in reaction to things, not to fill some quota of replies. we're still feeling out how things are being done and there's also a lot more characters now, so of course there's going to be more entries made in general anyway.

in any case, it would be a lot more helpful for everyone involved if you brought things like this up to the players and/or mods instead of ranting on an anon comm where it might not be seen. the mods were happy to change the entry per page number and i already know that the player in question has been asked to and agreed to toning down the number of echo requests they've been putting in.

let's use our communications skills here instead of starting a grumbling party, please?

Are you new here or something. This is the place to grumble about that shit because it's annoying as fuck.

And you sound like a patronizing little shit tbqh.

dude, this is rpanons, not wankgate. the majority of the posts here are either (a) discussion about RP, the majority not actual griping or needless complaining but actual discussion, and (b) off topic shit like depression advice and "oh I just had a taco and it was AMAZING!!!"

I mean people can complain here if they want, but we're free to call them out as stupid if they've done nothing about the thing that's bothering them BUT complain.

exactly. there are more characters so a little more consideration for them would be nice. if people think it's ok to go make eight posts in three weeks, what kind of example is that?

anoncomm is for bitching. that's the point. it helps for feeling out the pulse of the playerbase on certain subjects too without putting your neck on the line. people are more frank here as opposed to having to step on eggshells unanon. take it with a grain of salt and disagree if you want but don't just brush it off because "oh no anon bitching! not valid!"

da

(Anonymous) 2013-04-18 04:51 pm (UTC)(link)
no one said your complaint wasn't valid. to my knowledge, no one in the save the earth game threads has ever brushed off anon commentary as invalid just because it was anon.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-18 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Use a sock.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-18 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
The player's responded to a third of the posts on the community that aren't made by her. There are only two people in the entire game whose response tag has more uses. So "why don't you just tag other people" is a pretty stupid whine in this case.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-18 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)
So we're complaining because someone is really active? Man, you just can't win with anons.

figuring out the right posting speed for anons to be happy is like playing operation with a blindfold on.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-18 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
fyi you're anon, too. the op may not have handled their complaint well, but pinning something negative on "anons" when you're also anon and good discussion has come from other anon threads is silly.

da

(Anonymous) 2013-04-18 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
But that is a negative to the entire anonymous discussion format. Anonymity and the variation of opinion across a large group of people makes it impossible to determine what the "right" action is from a group perspective. (Which, admittedly, wouldn't be an issue if there weren't people who expect others to bow to the opinion of anon while ignoring the fact that anon isn't a monolith, but there are.)
