What's the timeline here? Has it been a few hours or a few days?

First call was at 10 AM, the other 2 were at 12 and 1 in the afternoon. #2 was not even 10 minutes after my friend said that she called (and got an answer on the first ring). :( I called again around 5 and still nothing!

Did you confirm with friend that you have the right number? Also if it's just within a single day I wouldn't stress so severely. See if he gets back to you later this eve or tomorrow

Yep. This is why I asked for a timeline. 3 calls between 10 & 1 don't indicate a bad landlord or scam. They indicate a person that is probably busy.
