rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

Re: CITY OF ARIEL
(Anonymous) 2013-03-23 06:11 am (UTC)(link)How common is fading to black here and what's the general opinion on people who stick with either f/f or m/m outside fading to black? I know smut is part of the AC and I'm down with that, but I'd rather avoid threading out het sex and the character I'm interested in apping is bisexual leaning towards straight. It would be kinda weird to avoid the issue altogether.
I remember the huge blowup with That Gayve a while back and, well, it's making me think twice about apping since it got pretty nasty.

Re: CITY OF ARIEL
Thanks for not being a dick about reminding me, anon. I appreciate it.

"Please note: You do not have to play out every sex scene ever and you do not have to play only sex. The AC requires 10 comments of smut per month. What you play outside of that is entirely up to you."
What's the deal here?

(Anonymous) 2013-03-23 07:31 am (UTC)(link)You don't have to write out every single encounter they have during the week. If they have sex three times a week, you don't have to write out sex three times a week. You can pick a particularly juicy encounter for the month, like trying out some new dungeon furniture or something, and thread that out for AC, while still referring to the fact that they have sex three times a week.
That, and if for some reason a thread needs to be dropped or faded to black because you have too many threads/are going on hiatus/the other person dropped the game, you can still do that. It just means that that thread, if it doesn't meet the 10 comment requirement, can't count for AC, and if you fade to black instead of writing out the sex to completion, it can't count for the game's level up process.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-23 07:41 am (UTC)(link)If I'm understanding you correctly, your aim is to pick up a bi, m/f preferring character, but to focus more on m/m or f/f while writing smut? If so, I'm going to say right now that that's probably going to rub some people the wrong way, since it's seems odd and contrary to pick a het-minded character just to play non-het relationships. There is the IC issue of writing out someone like, say, James T. Kirk only sleeping with men and handwaving the rest when he canonically pursues women with gusto, and might generate wank to the tune of "playing only for the yaois."
Not to say that it isn't done, or can't be done, but my advice is either pick a character more likely to have f/f or m/m relationships or just gird your loins against the possible backlash.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-23 09:18 am (UTC)(link)On the other hand, I see a fair amount of m/m and f/f happening because it's the way it works out between friends plotting together or because of a lack of opposite sex partners that a player manages to coordinate with. I don't know if you would really stand out as much as you fear.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-23 01:34 pm (UTC)(link)Think about it. If somebody apped Batman into a game and avoided playing out the detectiving and caped crusading parts because they only wanted to play out Bruce Wayne millionaire playboy hijinks, would they get called out for it?
If how they approach their love lives isn't an instantly recognizable hallmark of the character then people won't care though.
