Rundown:
rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.
Rules:
Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-22 10:28 am (UTC)(link)I highly agree that people should be proactive and creative. However I don't think it's fair to say that not being is the cause of all the problems. In most games people make AC due to network logs and boomerang tagging. Ariel is a slow game in which one liner network tags aren't going to help you.
I like lots of CR with my porn because I think it makes the porn more interesting and more detailed. I also like my CR to go somewhere other than one offs or just constantly in porn land. I don't know about other folks, but I got hit bad by character drops one month and hiatuses in another month. I made AC but barely. So yeah I can see where people do have issues especially if you're threading with several slow taggers.
My issue right is the sheer amount of porn I'm writing. I've got several between logs/events/network. Yep I've made AC but I also don't really want to start more until I get some of them wrapped up. Most of them I wouldn't be able to use for AC again due to being used for AC before, slow taggers, or ones that will be wrapped up without the right number of comments.
I don't want to see the smut requirement go away, but I think a 'free month' every quarter or something like it would help immensely too. In order to let ppl wrap up some threads, focus on building CR, or setting up more elaborate sceens.
Personally coming into the game I thought that AC would be easy to meet. 10 comments? Pshhh no problem, but it's turning out to be more difficult than I thought it would be and because it is a slow game, I've got threads reaching back for months. (BTW I want it to stay a slow game.)
I'm in the process of trying to snip some log threads, but some of them I flat out don't want to cut where they are and others aren't in a spot they should be cut.
Like for most of RP, tagging out is key, only this time tagging out means being upfront about the things you want to do and putting the effort necessary into building the threads, CR, and posts needed to make that happen.
This I completely agree with as well. I've had several people give me very vague answers or complete non answers when asking for CR/smut. Which in some cases is fine, but when we start talking harder/darker kinks, I really want to know what people's hard limits are. I think it's partly my style of play in that I want everyone to be on the same page on where something is going, because I'm finding in Ariel that 'just letting things develop' can put you in a very tight spot.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-22 05:27 pm (UTC)(link)To be honest this is one of my favorite things about this game. I love that the game's activity is centered in logs so I don't have to spend lots of time playing out network commentspam to get anywhere. I love that the pace is more relaxed and the game is friendly to slower taggers and players who prefer to spend most of our time threading in-person interaction and prose, unlike the vast majority of games on dwrp these days.
You may have to plan out your activity a bit more and reach out to people to plot interaction than in other games but it's doable. Maybe it's a little easier for me since I'm a slower tagger so I've always had to plan my activity more carefully than boomerang players to make sure I'd make AC in faster games. Treating the game more like a plot-focused game where you need to do a little more planning for the direction you want to take your character rather than just completely spontaneous development may help too.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-22 06:37 pm (UTC)(link)I'm not bashing the game and I hope it didn't sound that way. In fact it's my favorite game rn, but it's also the one I nail bite about AC on too. And it's not the focus on log based AC so much as smut log AC, kinda like in other games if your activity check had to be '10 comments with your character dancing'.
So if you have any planning secrets anon, I'd love to hear them! :)

(Anonymous) 2013-03-23 01:35 am (UTC)(link)- Spread out your CR. In other games a lot of people will tend to turn to the same few people to reliably meet AC. Having people you can rely on to crank out threads fast is good but you should also reach out and spread out your threads among a number of people so you don't get screwed if someone has to take a sudden hiatus
- As the thread below suggests, plan your logs so that the threads in them will carry you through the following month.
- Open logs are your friend and savior, both yours and those of others. Make them and tag into those of others.
- Give people an instant smut option in your open logs so you're threading porn from the first tag with at least some of the people who respond.
- Don't be shy about making use of re-education or aphro or events for instant smut threads.
- Don't drop any smut threads. Ever. Even if threading with that person crushes your soul and makes your eyes bleed with boredom. Slog through them as AC backup logs and to level up.
- Take on a little more than you usually would in terms of numbers of threads, as long as you can handle the load. More threads = more chances to make AC.
- Be very proactive about reaching out to people on the CR meme if you aren't getting enough hits yourself and make sure you have some concrete ideas about how to push characters together when you do. "Give me all the CR!" doesn't cut it.
