Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

Much as I love BLAME!, it's not exactly the direction I'm aiming for since it's very grim and I think that may make it too inaccessible to players. Brilliant manga and setting, but grim and full of death unless you're Killy.

I could find a way to integrate it in as a part of the virtual world. Loses it's appeal when the danger isn't there though. As a work of cyberpunk, it'll have some weight in how the world is built. I do like the Net Terminal Gene idea, just have no logical way to put into a more and relatively speaking normal setting.

The best way to explain the setting I have in mind is Deus Ex: Human Revolution. It's futuristic and has shades of realism, plus it hits the tropes of cyberpunk pretty well. I recommend it if you haven't played it.

Of course BLAME! makes it easier to explain why people are there because gravity did it. It blurs the lines of science and magic sort of as a soft science fiction work. Also killer robots, but that's a separate thing.
