Fine. I want a good Natasha. One who is around in more than theory.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-13 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)
You seriously need to stop. Every time you try this you just look like an ass. Our Natasha is good. She is around. Her tags are well written and interesting.

Just because she won't jump on cock immediately does not mean she's bad.

Unbunch your panties and go find something else to bitch about.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-13 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not bitching to want someone as popular in the fandom as Natasha to be active. The one we have sucks. She's never around. I want a better one. I'm entitled to my opinion.

Yes, yes you are; however, just because a character is popular doesn't mean they should be on everyone's to do list or have everyone on theirs. It comes across that you are reverse slut shaming because she isn't fucking everyone and their brother. No one is going to be able to keep up in a game if they did and especially not in a sex game where the sex has to be played out.

sorry you're being denied more consistent fap material

Genuinely curious question- is Natasha really that good? I hear everyone praise her all the time, but I have CR with one of the mun's other characters, and they're as dull as dull can be. Their tags are lifeless and boring. Is this a writing-style thing or an exclusive thing for that specific character? I'm talking about her OC, by the way.

Totally honest opinion hear, from a player who likes playing with her and a person who likes her as a person:

You kind of have to be on her wavelength. I spent a few months roleplaying against her and it was a constant exercise in frustration because her characters absolutely refused to bend and meet me halfway. It was a battle in expectations. I had to sort of figure out how she approached RPing in order to have any real fun in the log.

She really does keep her characters, including Cho, that rigidly in-character. She truly does not have any real emotional investment in a particular outcome of a log; her interest is playing them as strictly to character as she can, and in the interests of that, she tends to profile them psychologically (she has a masters in psych) to an extent I honestly sometimes find excessive.

If your style doesn't match hers and you find it boring, she's not going to change, and you should find someone else to RP with. If you can step back a little, match the adherence-to-character-over-general-RP-shenanigans style, and play against her, you will possibly find it a deeply rewarding experience.

Sorry for the tl;dr.

this is a really fancy way to say "she's boring sometimes and you have to just deal with it"

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2013-03-13 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
No, it's a really fancy way to say you need to think like she does to find her RPing interesting.

this is the first time i've seen someone try to start wank over a character being too ic

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2013-03-13 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm going to give a controversial opinion here. Brace yourself.

I don't think her Natasha is all that IC. The Natasha we've got in CoA is like a grimdark fanfic version of Natasha. She takes her to extremes that were never shown in canon.

Is she good? Yes. Is she well-written? Yes. Can she be described as 'too IC'? No.

wow, i was wondering if someone was ever going to say it.

Re: da

i'm cool with that opinion, i was just responding to airt

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2013-03-13 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
this is what I'm saying. She'll take canon characters and explore all the psychological ramifications, and end up with something that I feel goes beyond what the original creators really intended.

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2013-03-13 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
CoA is also doing things to characters that we don't see in the canon.

She plays her as slightly enhanced and not dealing well with the fact that processing nerfed that. She started out looking out for a really damaged Clint which messed with her mind. Then she lost Clint. Then she went outside the city and got caught up in that weird magical desert shit. Now I think she's got a bunch of her cover identities in her head and she doesn't know what's real and what's fake.

I would be pretty upset if she was as calm and collected as we tend to see her in the movies. This is more than we see her go through in the movies and she has no backup from S.H.I.E.L.D. or anyone else.

I don't think she's too IC but I also don't think that she's a grimdark version of her. I just think she's dark and circumstances are making that more obvious. If you don't agree with her interpretation of Natasha just don't play with it, but don't try to label it as not IC because some of us really enjoy it.

Thanks for the info. I have no idea what the fuck happened to the rest of this thread and I apologize for that. I was just curious. I'll keep trying to tag her.

Re: ayrt

(Anonymous) 2013-03-13 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope it helped. Really. And if you end up deciding that you just don't like her style and don't want to RP against her, I find that completely valid. She certainly does have a style, more notably than most other RPers I've come across.

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2013-03-13 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it's just a difference in the type of character. Her OC is more boring as a person than Natasha. Most people are.

She's also one of very few people who are starting in the game with no real sexual experience. I prefer the way she's handling the situation over the way some of the other people in that boat have done things. That being said I am also waiting until her OC gets more experience in game before doing anything with her because I have no interest in playing out smut with a character who doesn't know what they're doing and what they want yet.

DDA

(Anonymous) 2013-03-13 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm probably outing myself by saying this but whatever.

I know I don't think the way she does but I still have fun playing with her. The key is communication. If you find her characters interesting and you're willing to do a little extra OOC talking, you'll be fine. If you want something out of the log, tell her. She'll give you a few options of how to make it happen or tell you if she doesn't think it's possible and suggest other things instead. If you think a log is stuck or boring and you say something she will timeskip or find a way to end it or change it to make it more interesting.

DDDA

(Anonymous) 2013-03-14 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
The thing is, I don't find her characters interesting at all. I've tried to be interested, but when it came down to it I just couldn't even figure out why my character would be saying anything to them without sounding incredibly forced.

What ends up is that I just ignore anything her characters do because it's not that I just think her logs are boring but the way she plays is completely boring.

Contrariwise I've played with her and find her approach and writing style very interesting. It sounds like what we have here is a case of different strokes. So you don't play with her and I will and the world can keep on turning drama-free.

AYRT

(Anonymous) 2013-03-15 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
Like the other anon said that's completely valid. It seems like its just a case of different people finding different things interesting. Some of us like American Idol and some of us like the Discovery Channel. There's no wrong answer. You don't like her writing style and some of us do and that's what makes RP interesting.

I will say this because it seems like she's still tagging you since you say you keep having to force yourself to respond. If you just tell her that you would prefer not to play with her she will stop tagging you. Otherwise you might have to deal with her characters again if they have already tagged yours in the game.

She plays a couple of characters that I don't like as much and I asked her in the past to not tag me with them in memes and I haven't had a bit of trouble over it. Just my two cents. It might make your overall experience more pleasant to not have to worry about it.

Re: AYRT

(Anonymous) 2013-03-15 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
I probably should have put that in past tense actually - I did tell her eventually that our playstyles weren't really meshing and that's been the end of it. I find her characters boring but that's it. I just want to clarify that it's not me trying not to communicate with her or anything, which some anons seem to be implying upthread, I just can't muster up a reason why my characters should care so much about hers.
