Preserve your precious virginity

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

Go read Erfworld.

It's not the same as Homestuck (nothing is) but it has a lot of the things I like about it - awesome female characters being badass and great, hilarious absurdity, awesome culture/worldbuilding, parodies and tropes stuck everywhere (though it's D&D based instead of video games/text adventures), and intricate fascinating broad-scope plot, vibrant and snarky and characters, and more. It is a really great comic.

Ooooh, this is going to get a bit rambly...lately I've been on a bit of a space western kick with Borderlands 2. In the same vein of black comedy/psuedo-history, there's the Fallout series and Bioshock. You also can't really go wrong with Portal or Ace Attorney.

...I think most of those still have fandoms.

Bioshock 1+2 are the best for plot, I'd say, and the setting's fascinating. Fallout 3 has a good storyline and I prefer it to New Vegas, but New Vegas lets the player have a greater impact on the plot and is more thorough and well-integrated, if that makes sense. The general opinion between those two is that people prefer whichever one they played first. Borderlands 1+2 both suffer from mediocre plot, but the art is really fun and the characters are fantastic. Borderlands has fantastic co-op multiplayer, too.

Red vs Blue.
Because why are there so few of us out here seriously. And everyone gives up before they get to the best season when shit starts going down and each season is like an episode of another series! The episodes are 5 minutes long!

But anyhow I saw that admission to being a Homestuck and if you like that you may like this. So that's my recommendation.

Starts out silly and random, gains increasing plot while retaining that same sort of sense of humor, the women in it are disproportionately badass compared to the men in it, the animation gets significantly more impressive...

Huh. I'm a fan of both, you may be on to something.

Theres a weirdly large number of people who like both Homestuck and RVB I've noticed.

Anyhow as the two Anons above me said its a fun series, the women are all badasses of various sorts except for one who is hilarious, you won't see some the plot twists coming, and just keep in mind that it started out as six guys recording in a closet and now is a production value of 30+ people.

Also fun fact of the day; the VAs of Sarge and Tex helped produce Iron Giant back in the day.

Princess Tutu! Fairy tales and ballet meet mahou shoujo in a quaint, vaguely past-y, German town haunted by the spirit of a sadistic tragedian. It's a relatively short series - 26 episodes long.

Of course, any rec of PT is obligated to include this amv: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHZqxecCukg

Inazuma Eleven and Rhythm Thief! They're both ridiculous, but in a very charming way.
