Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.

anon, I've been around journal RP for a long, long time. I have never seen a zombie RP that wasn't single fandom (like Resident Evil) last more than three months. Zombies just don't provide enough for you to work with in a journal RP setting, especially in the long haul, and especially if you want to do something that's like The Walking Dead. That requires you to have an extremely tight storyline that circles around every single character individually, which is going to be damn near impossible if you get more than 20 people in this game (and you will, because zombies are super popular).

The most you can hope for is a horror game that also has zombies in it, but to do something that's just zombies? I'll eat my own hat if it lives.

but that sounds so cool, especially if you could make it work.

like if you get more than 20 characters you could split them up into groups that would come up with their own rule of survival and hierarchy. they could all be tied together by a plot contrived magical walky talky/radio that only works at special occasions. you could have teams that want to join up to form towns or raider teams try to talk people into meeting up so they can steal from them. you have no idea how to trust what you hear on the radio! there is no neat display with a name next to it, the person could be anyone.

of course that would mean permadeath and a lot of conflict and mistrust which rpers generally don't like to play but the possibilities! also probably au... or just pure jamjar no explanation or magic gods. just suddenly you are in a zombie apocalypse, you see 15 other people and a radio, what do you do? i guess you could have a mysterious voice over the radio that gives hints and tips that characters could assume was the mastermind behind this. but they can't just ignore such a lucrative promise of a safe house in the city, or a zombie-proof fort that you have to fight other teams to get. although that might also just lead into LETS ALL JOIN UP AND DEFEAT THE BIG BAD YAY. when there should be tension between groups.

also as a mod you would definitely need at least two who were just dedicated to running plot and being gm, deciding what would be findable in a town/farmhouse/etc. which i would find fun as hell, but it would probably mean not much actual playing a character in the game...

So all of this is great feedback but I'm getting completely different views here...1st replying anon has a lot of good points, but so does person who replied to that.

There are enough "horror" games out there already. And I don't want "horror," I would want a zombie apocalypse. Given, it would require a bit of players allowing Bad Things to happen to their characters (within reason) and a system of sorts, but if they don't want that sort of game with "interventionist mods," then maybe not join? IDK. This is why I'm putting out feelers and the like.

The problem with zombie games is people rush to reserve and then either don't app or app and make one post before idling. I don't know why, but people have issues playing with zombie scenarios. And probably especially if it doesn't have a network (sincemost everyone is obsessed with them) which I can't see being plausible in a zombie apocalypse world. Maybe everyone has a walkie talkie or something but no idea how that'd work.
