excited for this game but side-eyeing some of the reserves tbh

i dont care if its an oc or whatever but would it kill people to be a little more creative? 'Incarnate of Evil' are you serious???? i guess i shouldnt be surprised that everyone just wants super haxxx powers

i hope the mod is really strict on justifications.

Yeah, me too. Something like "evil" seems like your character would have to be pretty damn evil to be the perfect representation of that aspect.

there's also compassion, sacrifice, loyalty, devotion, empathy--all of these piss me off because these are such wide concepts, p much any shonen protag could be the incarnate of loyalty or sacrifice or whatever

Why are those bad? Sure, they can fit to a lot of characters, but that is generally the case. The really bad one is evil, the others are fine.

i think for the first round of apps, there'll probably be a lot of those simply because they aren't taken and they're the easiest to think of

maybe when the apps start coming in we'll see how it actually turns out

idk the player at all, but sicks's schtick was that his family line was literally bred for generations to select for the most 'evil' individual possible. it's a plot point that he's 'absolute evil'.

so it's pretty much canon, even if said canon is incredibly cheesy.

'absolute evil' by which standard? cheesy anime? akatsuki might be 'evil' in naruto but they're hardly hot shit out of their own universe...

plus being Incarnate of Evil would give this dude power over every instance of evil in the game, which sounds like a clusterfuck just waiting to happen tbh

Yes, it sucks that you can't reserve your team rocket character as incarnate of evil now, but you'll have to deal with it.

I think the big problem is that you're expected to really justify why your character is the Incarnate of Whatever, so people are trying to choose things that are hugely important to their character.

Like, it might be more interesting to play as the Incarnate of Begonias, but unless Begonias are super important to that character, it's basically impossible. Most characters wouldn't even be able to get away with apping as the Incarnate of Flowers. But if it's a big deal for your character that they are At One With Nature and are a huge nature-nut, it's going to occur to you that Incarnate of Nature is a good bet.

I'm also not getting where all this anger over people choosing powerful but broad concepts is coming from. Because imo, the broader the concept is, the easier it is to come up with something similar but different for your character. Someone has Incarnate of Madness? Choose the Incarnate of Instability. Someone has Incarnate of Music? App as the Incarnate of Rhythm, or Melody, and have them work together or butt heads. You're really more screwed if something like Pineapples are super duper important to your character and someone's already apped that.

Yeah, there's also the fact that, like. Some of the characters might have super powerful concepts but either not want anything to do with them, or not be willing to abuse them.

Plus, I seriously am expecting (or hoping) for this to turn out like a game of Nobilis, where even the "minor" concepts can be super powerful, everyone is godmod, and therefore there's really no point in trying to abuse your powers. More things get accomplished by ingenuity, diplomacy, deal-making, and flat-out sneaking around than brute force.

I was so excited by the idea of this game, but then I read it in more detail and was disappointed. The setting they have is way underwhelming compared to the concept. You're given PHENOMENAL COSMIC POWAH...and then plonked into a bog-standard slice of life jamjar. "Here's your apartment, here's the mall. Set up a shop! Go to high school!" Ugh, so much wasted potential! :(

Yeah I can get that feeling, but at the same time i think I understand what they're going for?

Like it's supposed to be the conflict between PHENOMENAL COSMIC POWAH and NORMAL WORLD. What they're looking for is people to be the big movers and shakers in the setting with the power and status they have, which wouldn't work quite as well if the setting was super outlandish also.

I don't really know why you care. Given the number of people who're complaining about the reserves being "uncreative and boring" there would surely be more interesting powers...I mean, you all can't be that one player. But no, there's the person with pot and a bunch of boring reserves. So...

I guess what I'm getting at is to either fucking prove you can bring something you'd consider interesting or shut up because you obviously can't do better for some reason or another. And don't get me wrong, I get chilling in a thread to watch ~wank~ but you're not even fun or interesting. You might as well copy/paste your butthurt and that's 90% of the responses here. You're as boring as you say the reserves are.
