gen vi is revealed!

what are everyone's first impressions?

i'm really pleased with everything so far and i'm kind of surprised i haven't seen a lot of people nerdraging about it

tbh i had a kneejerk WHY THOUGH IT HASN'T BEEN THAT LONG SINCE GEN V CAME OUT reaction when i first saw the news this morning but honestly gen v had far weirder timing than this, being a ds game coming out right at the end of the ds's life cycle. as long as they don't rush gen vii or anything i'm cool.

gonna miss pixels, though.

it'll be hilarious seeing the battle sims adjust...

i've seen quite a few fanmade sprites on pixiv already, so i'd imagine pokemon fandom will step up to the plate and sprite animations for the new attacks and pokemon

Think of it this way. This gen has been worked on for seven years now. It's bound to be pretty damn good.

I don't really have an opinion on it beyond, that's pretty close to the previous instalment release.

Doesn't really matter to me one way or another though. I'm a couple of games back still.

It looks great and I can't wait to play it, but I haven't even finished Soul Silver yet never mind Black 1 and 2.

I'm flipping my shit, I am so excited. The legendaries look awesome, the starters look adorable, and the fact that the fire type starter is presumably something that isn't fire/fighting has won me over entirely.

I'm going to miss sprites, because beautiful sprite art and being able to easily do fan sprite art, but maybe our Pokedex will have sprites........

...hahaha no that's just wishful thinking.

I'm a little worried just how much the game is dependent on playing with other people because I don't have very good wifi. My prime hours are 2am - 4am and I won't be staying awake that late any more...

I highly doubt wifi will matter outside of trading, online battling, and event pokemon.

The whole video talked about how much interacting with others is going to benefit your gameplay, and it's the whole reason they're working to release the games simultaneously...

...so yeah, I'm a little worried. I would assume that you can do it independently but boy.

I personally assume it's going to be a more polished, worldwide version of the multiplayer stuff in BW and BW2 (Funfest missions, Dream World, Join Avenue, and so on) that's there to get you more rare items and Pass Power type things rather than anything that's going to seriously effect the main game, though I could easily be wrong. The multiplayer stuff in Pokemon has never really been necessary to complete the game, so I'm not too worried.

I do hope that this means there's a lot more that you can do over the internet instead of having to be in the same area as a lot of other people who play Pokemon, though, because that's always been a problem for me.
