Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Temporary Change: To reduce the strain on Dreamwidth's servers new entries will go up when a post reaches 3,000. It doesn't look like DW can handle 5,000 comment entries at the moment so please refrain from spamming so we can stretch these entries for a little longer. We don't need several threads soliciting photo evidence of body parts, and we already know that we only care about yaoi. Failure to comply will only result in deletions and butthurt. "People may notice site slowdown/cache error pages. We're working on fixing. You can help: finish posts at 3k comments, not 5k or more." - Dreamwidth@Twitter

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.

X-2 is rage inducing in its own ways.

Especially how you have to do all sorts of extremely specific things that the game will not ever tell you to avoid missing things and to try to avoid the dreaded Episode Concluded.

Yes, I got an Episode Concluded because I didn't look to the left at one point in the fucking hot springs part.

You serious? Because I was kicking around the idea of playing X-2 (played it maybe an hour?) and I did hear something about multiple endings and getting a 100% on the game?

Yeah, there's stuff like if you don't touch a moogle hiding huddled behind a bunch of crates during a sequence you won't get 100% completion and the technical best ending.

Not to mention even after you get 100% completion and do all of that crap if you don't hit X and the specific point in the Farplane (that it gives you no prompts whatsoever for) you still won't get the 100% Perfect Ending.

I always figured the lull in the sequence was the prompt. I remember nothing happening long enough that I was like "what the shit, game" and just started pressing buttons to see if there was something in the area that needed to be interacted with.

Although yeah, it goes on eventually even if you don't press X so it's not the best way to determine what ending should occur.

Don't forget about how you can't skip any cutscenes, as doing so means that cutscene doesn't count towards your 100%.

The saving grace is that X-2 has new game+ because unless you have a 100% accurate guide and are following it to the letter, you will not get 100% + good endings for the episodes on your first playthrough guaranteed. X-2 is full of so many missables and catching them all by yourself is impossible. The game lets you stack percentage so on subsequent playthroughs, (like, making different choices in the game will give you some bonus percentage points) even if you still don't do everything, it'll add up and help you.

X-2 was designed to be played multiple times to get the best ending, but the problem is that to encourage you to play multiple times, it throws in bullshit like "if you don't take a nap at this specific time, and there is no indication that you should take a nap at all, you just screwed yourself over."

I'm pretty sure it would be pretty impossible to get 100% regardless of the amount of playthroughs if you didn't have a guide, there's just so much missable junk like that.
