Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Temporary Change: To reduce the strain on Dreamwidth's servers new entries will go up when a post reaches 3,000. It doesn't look like DW can handle 5,000 comment entries at the moment so please refrain from spamming so we can stretch these entries for a little longer. We don't need several threads soliciting photo evidence of body parts, and we already know that we only care about yaoi. Failure to comply will only result in deletions and butthurt. "People may notice site slowdown/cache error pages. We're working on fixing. You can help: finish posts at 3k comments, not 5k or more." - Dreamwidth@Twitter

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.

.flow game?

(Anonymous) 2012-02-10 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
i talked about this on a post a while back, but i'm wondering if anyone is still interested in a .flow/yume nikki inspired game? (more the former than the latter, but still the same basic principles.)

i would really like to get one started up if there's sufficient interest in it, and while i've been trying to sort out possible plot things and locations and rules and everything, it is a bit overwhelming for one person. so, would anyone want to work with me on this if this does become a thing?

i would suck at running a game, but i would love to play in one based on this setting. yume nikki, at least. not sure how much .flow differs.

in terms of actual content, .flow has at least fifteen metric fucktons of more nightmare fuel, which includes but is not limited to gore, body horror, incredibly disturbing imagery, and a lot creepier music. there are lots of vids on youtube if you're curious! the primary difference, though, is that where yume nikki takes place in dreams, .flow takes place over the internet, so to speak--a network of sorts. i think .flow would be more suited to an actual game than yume nikki because dream logistics are much more difficult to work out as opposed to network logistics, and there would be a lot more horror potential. this would definitely not be a slice-of-life game—it really couldn't be.

whelp, i'm sold. actually i'd really like to play it, and obviously i should.
as i mentioned before, i don't know what kind of modly, if any, skills i possess, but i can do mundane tasks like updating lists, and judging apps shouldn't be too hard if you need something like that. but i'm a little shitty at policing people, most likely.

Yes, good. Everyone should play .flow! Even if one isn't a fan of horror, there are so many creative, interesting elements to the game that are in fact totally innocent. It does have something for everyone, I think.

And that's perfectly fine, anon! Any and all help is appreciated. I myself am actually better at overseeing players and everything than updating lists and doing all that administrative work, although I'd be more than willing to do it if no one else stepped up to the plate. In any case, if you're interested, please feel free to pm this journal!

Aaaa how exciting! I would like to help, i just dont know how much help i would actually be. I'm in the same boat as above anon; i'd be much better at keeping lists updated and behind the scenes jobs. I'm too timid to handle players ha ha ;;

No worries, anon! I'm very happy that you'd like to help. ;u; Anything specific you'd like to be in charge of? I know I'd be a trainwreck at updating pages and everything. D8 I'm more of a people person myself. If you'd like, you can PM this journal and we can talk from there!

Oh I am SO still interested in this. (Hi I don't remember if I posted un-anon in the last thread but I am now with semi-appropriate account so there!)

I don't think I could pull off a full-time mod/helper position, but I'm willing to help brainstorm a bit? I admit I'm not caught up on the YN fangame progress and know YN itself much better than .flow, but I've played some early versions of .flow and what I remember of it is nonetheless substantial!

Just omg please make this happen. Creepy-ass networks and body horror and nightmare fuel yesssssssssssssssss.

Yes, I do remember you! Hehehe~

And it's perfectly all right if you're not up to speed on .flow itself; knowledge of Yume Nikki will serve you just as well. Really, my main goals right now are to get locations in order and to try to think of where to start on an FAQ page—those two things alone are pretty daunting tasks at the moment! But really, any input on anything you'd like to see or think would be suitable for such a game would be great.

Popping in again to say YES, still totally interested in a .flow game! I likewise can't really do much in the capacity of modding (full time job, etc etc etc), but I know the game backwards and forwards, so if you ever want help with world building or game mechanics, I'd be happy to lend a hand there!

YES, GOOD. I'm actually in the process of getting a static locations list put together. That might take a while, but in the meantime, I have an FAQ up on this journal if you're interested. If you have any feedback in regards to the game mechanics detailed in the FAQ, I would really appreciate it! Of course, that's only if you want to read it...!
