[M] Find god's match for you

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Temporary Change: To reduce the strain on Dreamwidth's servers new entries will go up when a post reaches 3,000. Please refrain from spamming so we can stretch these entries for a little longer. We don't need several threads soliciting photo evidence of body parts, and we already know that we only care about yaoi. Failure to comply will only result in deletions and butthurt. "People may notice site slowdown/cache error pages. We're working on fixing. You can help: finish posts at 3k comments, not 5k or more." - Dreamwidth@Twitter

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

I'm finally seeing a therapist for my anxiety issues and I have to fill out an info form.

I don't know how to answer the "Male/Female" question because I'm trans but pre-everything and don't pass well, but the not passing well is part of what creates anxiety for me. :( Normally I just lie and say my birth sex because it's simpler for all parties involved but I suspect I'll actually be talking about it here so idk what to put.

yes i am having anxiety about filling out a form for anxiety treatment

what is my life

Does it really matter what you put, she's not treating you based on your gender is she?

(Anonymous) 2012-05-29 06:25 am (UTC)(link)
I feel like it'll colour how she treats me, idk. I'm going to have to explain it either way so I guess I'm wondering what I can put that elicits the least...awkwardness, I guess?

I don't know much anything about trans problems or therapists or anxiety personally but I'd say you should put female because it sounds like you're trying to take the easy way out by putting something else down and hoping it acts as a sort of bridge for you opening up to her about it when you're supposed to be getting help and learning to stop being anxious. Do all the talking about it directly and through your mouth and you'll do better.

you're an asshole anon :|

circle them both? it would reflect your anxiety over the whole thing.

(Anonymous) 2012-05-29 06:48 am (UTC)(link)
does it say sex or gender on the form?

(Anonymous) 2012-05-29 06:51 am (UTC)(link)
Neither, it says verbatim "Male/Female:" with a small blank beside it

(Anonymous) 2012-05-29 07:13 am (UTC)(link)
Trans guy here. I always deliberately leave the M/F questions blank on forms. In most cases, no one asks for clarification. If they do, then I verbally give them the answer I am comfortable with, which for me personally is generally to say "trans."

Increasingly, progressive health care providers actually list more than two options on their sex/gender tick boxes, so it's not without precedent. There are a lot of people who can't/won't answer when the only options are male or female.

I think this sounds like the best answer. Thanks, fellow transguy anon!

I didn't realize they would let you get away with not answering; this is such a big problem for me sometimes.

And it is irritating because I've had to deal with people like counselors who'll say something like, "Really?". Because it's totally not hard enough explaining it without someone being judgmental.

(Anonymous) 2012-05-29 07:20 am (UTC)(link)

I've never been to a therapist before so I have no idea what sort of forms you're filling out, but...

If it's a legal form, like something about payment or whatever, put your legal sex.

If it's just informational, put your gender identity instead. Come out to her as soon as you meet and get this out in the open.

(Anonymous) 2012-05-29 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
If it's not legal, and you have a blank space to complete (instead of circling an option) then put trans.

Fill it out however you want, then when you get there TELL HER ABOU IT. It's a therapist, you pay them to listen to this shit.
