Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Yeah, Space Pirate structure is pretty nebulous, though from mentions of stuff like "Space Pirate DNA" and the Space Pirate homeworld, it's a fairly established fact that with some outliers like Ridley, Space Pirates are mostly a single Imperialistic species (though Other M characterized them as a mostly mindless monster race...permission to ignore Other M, please?)

Also, I think for the factions a lot of interaction with civilians/mooks/officers can be handwaved! The exceptions should be the plot-movers like Ridley and government leaders (Admiral Dane?). But Science Team should totally be played out.

I think I may have found a way around it. Pirates wouldn't be beyond hiring guns or getting some new tech so to speak by absorbing characters would they? Tight nit as they are, expanding their empire and technology would over rule something like that.

Other M is ignored, mainly because I've never played it and I heard they really dropped the ball on it. Plus they made Nightmare a laughable enemy when he was a pain in Fusion.

Agreed! It's too much to handle really, but head officials should have some input at least. Science teams are important to the plot from what I've got, so you're right on the dot there anon. Far as characters like Ridley and such, I may seek out some people to play them in game instead of npcs. Much as I love the idea of this game, I'm not mod material, just a planner and getting text together.

Check this journal for updates on stuff, has random snippets of ideas and comments are anon able/no ip if you have a suggestion!

That sounds perfectly in-character for the opportunistic bastards, and gives plenty of room for potential backstabbings (on both ends!).

Other M has a lot of weird and outright contradictory information that'll be more trouble than it's worth to reconcile with the rest. Glad to hear that's out of the way.

Going further into NPC's: maybe the characters more structural to the setting (e.g. Ridley, who's mostly a force of destruction rather than a personality) should be mod controlled while the more personal characters can be picked up by players. Let Samus herself be a shadowy legend, like how she comes off to the galaxy at large.

I like Samus being presented as a shadowy legend, maybe with the rare occasional sighting or indirect involvement on the game.

Good idea! Having her as a plot mover would help a lot, little dabbling in the lives of the characters to a degree. I don't want her to be the main focus, but hard not to include her in a Metroid game somehow.

That's what I like about it. Let's a whole can of potential be open, just a matter of getting them in motion and having a get set of NPCs to use with it.

Agreed!

I don't know if you have or not, but the Metroid Manga gives Ridley some personality. Background suggest he's a cunning fellow and being leader of the space pirates has to have some merit.

She should be and the anon below has some interesting ideas on how to use her. I don't want her to be a central point, but she would make a wonderful plot mover if played with right. Certainly don't want to have her deeply involved despite it being a Metroid game.
