The trailer and press release for CBS's Elementary were released and the BBC fandom is losing their shit because they think it's a ripoff.

It does look pretty bad imo, but it's by no means a ripoff. It just sounds like CBS combines House and Bones and slapped the Sherlock Holmes name onto it.

Minus the good writing, enjoyable acting, and any soundtrack that stands out. I had a small glimmer of hope of there being something salvageable, buuuut it's CSI where I don't remember any actors, just some crimes.

I think it looks shit, the premise already sounded like it will be shit and I'm a little pissed because I sincerely doubt if shit flops that CBS will take away anything about people not liking shitty shows, and instead blame choosing a WOC as a lead.

I've got at least small hopes because of Lucy Liu. I would watch her in just about anything.

It just looks like the same idea done shittier than someone else already did it rather than a direct ripoff.

I'll give it a shot and if I think it's boring, I'll ignore it but Christ, reactions like this are the reasons me and my BBC Sherlock-loving friends only poke our head into the fandom occasionally. And only for reasons of comedy. They're all batshit and it's hilarious.
