eh, pretty much gave up on playing the ships I want to play out. nobody plays the characters involved. jin becoming a popular thing pretty much put the last nail in that coffin since, so i'm actually pretty close to calling it quits on rping this fandom at all.

I have this one for uu which I made some time ago, but I don't know whether I'll play him or not in the future. I also have a UU journal, but can't recall it right now.

totally, 100% canon blind, but on the one hand I can see where someone would want to impress a cool, older peer at high-school age. especially at a time when they're feeling alone and looking for friends.

Just curious, is there any pairing that is monogamous in here? Or NO ONE believes in monogamy?

I mean, I know IC-ly there are characters who *omg love each other*, and most people actually keep a lover to just screw their lover. Yet, I don't see that here?

I know oocly this is a game for characters randomly screw others, but I'm talking about IC. Would all characters icly refuse monogamy even if they have someone they love deeply?

Okay, I think I am going to un-anon now, because the anonymity thing does not seem to be helping round here. Let me 'splain. Which is to say, let me give a concrete example of fandom experience.

As you may see, the guy I play is not exactly the most sparkling bishie in Koeidom. I have never had trouble with that. No one's shamed or avoided me. My castmates have been fabulous. Shipping has never played any role in my RPing in this fandom and yet I have had a world of fun and look forward to more fun.

Conversely, I think my aforementioned castmates have done a fabulous job RPing out a long, thoughtful, emotionally true and canonically grounded buildup of a (coincidentally m/m) relationship and I find reading their threads delightful. So really, everyone's happy.

Fandom is fandom. People indulge. People go overboard. As someone who can't stand many highly popular ships in Koei fandom (seriously fuck Zhuge Liang/Jiang Wei) I feel a certain amount of your pain. But between that and saying that people are being shamed for not shipping... nope, idgi.

I'm kind of excited. The voices are a little odd in terms of what the actors have previously played, but the actors they've picked so far are very classy individuals. If it's not a super amazing dub, it will at least be a decent one.

There are others better qualified to comment than I as they've been there longer, but the general IC belief is that, given sex is required to survive and that Loki can randomly "take people away" (ie, drops, death, canon updates etc), it is prudent to keep partners other than just one monogamous lover so they have someone to turn to in times of need.

However, no, not all characters would refuse it! There have apparently been quite a few couples who have attempted monogamy with varying degrees of success.

My character is more like what you describe - he is mutually in love with his main partner, and he occasionally gets jealous of his partner's other lovers, but they know it's best for them not to be completely monogamous.

I can only speak for my characters, but one of them is heterosexual and sees it just as a necessity to survive, so he has sex with whoever is close to the game-imposed time limit when he needs it too, since he doesn't plan on actually falling in love with anyone in Vegas. The other is bisexual and polyamorous, but he doesn't sleep with any joe shmoe on the street, he sticks to the small group of people he trusts and cares for.

Out Of Character, I see it like this: DV is a boys-only sex game. We're already bending the IC-ness of most characters apped, so why not go the extra mile and have all the sexy fun we want? Everyone who apps in knows it's just for silly buttsex funtiems, so I think we all just reached some kind of conclusion of "yeah, whatever, we can do this" at some point.

Yeah, I was thinking of Heroman. It's been a while since I've seen it, so I can't remember if it was Marvel or just Stan Lee who was involved. I thought I remembered seeing Marvel things on the credits, which was why I was curious.

Well, I think you'd have to simplify, even just by default? What if you wanted to app, say, Sora from Kingdom Hearts or Ichigo from Bleach? If you wanted to completely translate their entire canon history into AU terms, you'd have material for pages. The other option would be to set a word cap on the app but allow links to a lengthier history post if required?

I'm curious, anon: what particular needs does your character have? If you don't mind my asking.

i don't, but i really hope that we get a lot more info on uu soon because after that update i kind of really want to play him.

Ah, well, the thing about that post is that it only covers his hope recognition power - when the thread being discussed clearly shows he has at least one more power, to make his hopes into reality. That's what I'm talking about, the lack of information available to a player wanting to find out more about how Cape & Cowl specifically has shaped him. Nothing on his journal even explicitly mentions he's been humanized, for instance, which I think he has been according to a recent thread with Nygma? Let alone what he looks like. I do want to talk with you! Your technical writing skills are excellent. I just don't want to go off for ten paragraphs on how ridiculously wrong him kicking puppies is when it turns out that incident in another country (where he... killed... lots of people?) involved getting mauled by a rabid pack of them.

But yes, keep in mind that, while it may not seem like it at first, Cloud does have actual, concrete reasons to act the way he does in Advent Children and it kind of makes me sad a large part of fandom thinks he fell back on angst because it's the "typical" view instead of an actual, psychological thing. If you don't mind, I an TLDR on my views for Cloud in Advent Children?
